having some hardware trouble

so i'm using a M-Audio Midair 25 MIDI controller and to put it simply: sometimes it works, and sometime's it doesn't. Half the time I try to use it I just get no response in my DAW, even if it worked last time I ran it with the same preferences. Anyone know why this might be happening? I've had this problem with Ableton, OpenMPT and Renoise.

are you powering it on before system startup or daw startup?

Well tbh I didn't know it mattered, I usually switch it on and off throughout the day depending on when I use it. When should I turn it on?

i used to have the same issue with mine when it went thru usb that it would give me problems if it wasn't on before i booted my daw up or sometimes even system.
now with a dedicated midi hub and having my controller plugged in to midi i can power on/off whenever with no hiccups.
i'd trial and error it out if i were you.

I tried turning the controller on before and after opening the DAW. tried both a few times. Wouldn't work at all. Damn this is frustrating.

if its powered by USB its probably not enough. there should be a power jack that you can plug in too. i had this problem with my axiom 25, lcd was flashing on/off and wasnt recognised on my pc until it had moar power
edit:oh its wireless lol. awesome

It's USB, wireless, and currently plugged into the AC adapter.

Just tried powering it on before PC startup, still nothing.
edit: I tried hooking up the controller with a chord instead of using the wireless setup it came with and had better luck. Still not sure why the wireless didn't work though, it was definitely sending the MIDI data.

you prolly have something either operating on the same frequency or interfering with the band it's on
any way to change the freq it's on for wireless?
personally i'd keep it cabled in
