The review doesn't really say anything and totally neglects the none dubstep tracks. It's not bad though and it's great to have it in the Guardian.

Result! And from reading the text, it might be another 5/5 review moderated down to 4/5 by a cautious editor a la Simon Reynolds' Burial review in the indie. Also
Dubstep's sonic palette is one of cavernous bass twinned with skanking beats and the occasional sample. It is dark and murky, an instrumental reflection of gloomy London nights, but the dancefloor imperative of Digital Mystikz's Anti-War Dub or Burial's Versus is hard to resist. It is also intensely physical - the broad brushstrokes of bass that underpin the sampled police sirens and club chatter on Loefah's Mud VIP seem designed to make your entire body judder
completely doesn't miss the point in the way that these things normally do. Who is Alex MacPherson, and how come he writes for a broadsheet yet appears to know what he's talking about?
Good likeness of Mary-Ann on the cover, too...

it does happen occasionally you know. although as boom says, it's treated as if it's a dubstep compilation, which is rather narrow.
as to who he is, i've never seen his name before in the guardian... google reveals little. maybe it's an alias.

He doesn't really particularly know much about dubstep. But it's as good a review as you will ever get in the Guardian I'd reckon!
