Hi ive been preducing music for a while but since going to raves and really getting into dubstep, i wanna give it a shot. I have cubase but am not a big fan of it for dub. ive been looking at a few programes but there all like £700. anyone know any cheaper but not compromising quality programes. nice one!

Ableton Live is alright, you can pick it up for around £300 these days... It's a bit limited, but if your starting out producing dubstep you should be pretty good to go with that for now.
Reason is ok, I have used it a few times for dubstep, and I've found the results pretty interesting, even though I am not particularly a dubstep producer, I prefer to mess with Jungle/DnB.

Happy producing mate!

Reaper $60, top quality.
Ableton Live is also great, fuck knows what wobwob means about it being limited

I think its all Aaron Spectre uses for a DAW, and his stuff is mental.
Fruity Loops if your brain works like that. Or Renoise if you are a robot (no disrespect to the tracker crew, but I just can't get my head around them). Both relatively inexpensive.

you must have never tried to resample in your life. no other program allows you to flip your own samples like ableton live.
fl studio - edison can do it alright
reason - export and recycle??? fuck thaaaaaaaaaaat
renoise- youve got to be kidding me.
ableton- resampling heaven. freeze flatten copy paste. no bullshit getting in your way

cubase is perfectly suited for any type of production so don't go wasting your money as there is no magic software to make you a good producer
i swear to god some of you go on about your personal daw choices like they're the bees knees, but know shit about any of the other daws listed other than seeing screenshots or using a demo for 2 hours
the tools don't matter it's how you use them and a master of their tools doesn't consistently change his tools up before learning how to use them to their fullest
