ok so in all honesty im not a huge dubstep fan, i came on here more to chat about production and djing. however i have started mixing a little bit of dubstep but i am very fussy about what sort of sounds i like within the genre.
i like stuff thats ambient and chilled but with heavy underlying sub bass.
i have a record by skream called the shinein which is perfect example of what i like and what i'd like to start mixing a bit more.
thanks

skream - the shinein is very much dubstep, so i guess youre looking for less wonk-style. check out breakage,

oh, but just read again, and if youre on the ambient tip...I would happily recommend you both echodub (label) and my own radio shows Normally start off with loads of this kind of stuff...sometimes never get past it lol. Link is in my sig, and I reckon the mix I did last week will be right up your alley...

All of the above, plus Ranking Records esp. Ruckspin and Quark collabs. Plus a few by myself, notably 'Babylon Keep I Down', or 'Open Skies'
