Same as VIP means normally!

It used to be like, they release the original, but certain people get the VIP to play out, but it doesn't become available to normal folk.

but now they release VIP's too, so it's just a remix really :)

Remix of a track done by the original artist.

For example

Stenchman - Signs

and then

Stenchman - Signs VIP

is a remix of Signs done by the original artist (Stenchman), because it would be a bit stupid to put Stenchman - Signs (Stenchman Remix)
.

l was always under the impression it stood for Variant In Production :? Thought it was a remix using the same samples and sounds as the original production, not sure though ...

Yea I wondered this for ages, then got told it means when the artist makes an excluse remix of their own tune, and only passes it round to a select few dj's or their mates (as in, VIP's). But yea as a rule VIP's just have the same samples but amped up production. Eastern Jam VIP where you at!

This is what I gather that it means. I guess a version would be the same deal.

i've always gone by either
1) a remix done by the producer of the original tune and given to a specific person (the VIP) to play out exclusively.
or
2) a producer gives one of their tunes to another artist (the VIP) to remix

I think it is supposed to be though. A lot VIP's are technically VIP's then again I don't think there is an official bible for this sort of thing. Maybe it is a VIP as long as it is done with the original project files or original studio or session.

EZ, I could be wrong but i'm fairly sure that a remix is similar samples with an updated beat or bass eg: TC- where's my money and the caspa remix, they have same samples but diff bass and drums.

A VIP is pretty much the same tune but samples and music has been moved around to create a new sound.

As well as being slightly different from the original, case in point: Benga & Coki - Night VIP - the synth line goes up rather than down - sometimes just the addition of the DJ's name to the tune IE: THE N, THE T, THE Y THE P THE E!

VIP used to mean a refix of the original by the same artist, like a slight variation as opposed to a remix which is a complete overhaul
