DSF producers event!

How much interest is there for a Dubstepforum producers meeting?

I reckon the day would consist of a couple hosted talks led by big name artists + some individual workshops outlining specific techniques used in music production. There could also be scope for DAW dependent workshops, ie, using Reason as a guitar stomp box or whatever....

It would probably need to be held in London or Birmingham, just so it is accessible for everyone regardless of the method of transport chosen.

Summarised, 'Dubstep workshops during the day, after party in the evening!' :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are interested in attending, please vote 'yes' in the poll at the top of this thread. Obviously, the more people interested the better the day will be (and the harder the organisation will be).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please post your suggestions for actual content for the day below.

-----------------------

My ideas include;

*History of Dubstep (hopefully given by some of the original people) including a look at where electronic music is heading.

*A worshop looking at recording and or mixing skills. An essential component of this would surely be about preparing prepress mixes for mastering engineers to work with.

*Two live worshops - one focussing on practical tips for booking, touring and putting on nights & events etc, the second one focusing on practical performance tips, both DJing and laptop wizardry

*Sound system basics workshop with someone who regularly runs rigs explaining what's involved in running and maintaining soundsystems.

*A debate exploring pros and cons regarding free downloads, p2p and intellectual property. Would also look at ways of negating piracy methods for those of us who do wish to make money through music.

The venue would have to have mutliple rooms and a licence for loud music. It would also have to be accessible via public transport.

this could go off. i'm sure skream and benga would come if paid at least the same rate as a show... if not less... i think you'd have a better chance of that happening than getting NI involved... and get more out of it.
