seriously though

although this forum has the dreaded wonky tag - basically as a result of an overly long drawn out discussion about it..

nobody likes the term, its a vain attempt at trying to pigeon hole a certain feel or whatever, typical egojourno bullshit basically.

there are some compilations with some great music, but seriously i would erase that term from your mind and just enjoy the variety of electronic music artists out there,

i mean no offense to you with this, just had to speak about it.

the mods of this board need to act responsibly and change the term in my opinion as i feel its ultimately damaging to a collective of ideas which have yet to really surface

the use of this term only feeds the natural tendency of record shop owners and musos to scoff and raise eyebrows.. the records dont get pushed, fans get put off - and ultimately the artists become bracketed into a fake genre with a name that implies an amateurish and naive approach.

i get what youre saying but still, If you look at dubstep there is a wide variety of styles but if i bought a dubstep compilation there would still be enjoyable tracks on it, I suppose im looking for the equilaivent of the dubstep allstars series. Even though you do not approve of teh term it helps listeners find music much more easily. Im aware that its not amaeutrish by a long shot btw, i hoping to produce a few tracks in this style and its quite hard to nail teh right mood. Still, least your passionate about your music :)

The name "wonky" is just ridiculous. But when I produce I use it as a half-joke, and try to add just a little bit of "wonk" to each track.

you mean WONKY?

it's no worse than any other genre name is it? not worth getting angry about anyway.

i think its a very bad genre name, but i won't let that make me angry, especially as my own tunes dont even fit in with that style! :)

its all hiphop to me anyway, dubstep included
