I'm trying to sort this shit out at the moment
I'll ask on here cos on the production forum they'll probably respond to a simple question as if I've asked where I can get hold of some horny toddlers so -
getting monitors - thinking KRK Rokir RP5S
1. is it REALLY worth the extra hundred for RP6s?
2. anyone heard Samson Rubicons?
next step is a laptop and a audiointerface

RP6 will have more bass but imo KRK Rokits sound like ass
The Rubicons are much better speakers a little hyped in the highs

Is it true that you need to get a sub if you get rubicons though?

I have rubicons and I would recommend them. I sound tested them against the KRk 5" 6", I found the krks to have a 'boxy' quality and the bass was too exaggerated. The rubicons are more accurate in bass frequencies from my experience and more pleasing in the tops (tops level is adjustable). You wont
need a sub you can hear all bass frequnecies you'll need on them. nice little speaker.

Where's teh best place to buy? Dolphinmusic?

Got mine from dolphin, try playing a couple of each other (GAK and dv247 being a coupla others) especially if your buying a few bits in one go. Though I think the margin on rubicons is pretty low so don't expect much more than £20 or so.

the yamaha monitors are all amazing
flat and clear as day
ive got the hs50s, slightly smaller but coupled with a sub theyre perfect, also my space is small so this size is better for me
highly recomended

Mickledan:
Just running a regular sony amp, not ideal, but i mix in my senheisers.
The reveals are ok for what they are, they are 11 years old dont forget, so quite dated.
The sound is ok outta them, my set ups pretty budget, so, they'll have to do before i get the yamahas.
Alex:
They look kinda big for the hs50s, so this is a recommendation for that size?!
