Hello guys.

Quite new to the forum, so no slating pleeease if you think this topic is silly.

My name is Gareth (DJGJ) and Ive recently moved from Djing electro, house and UK Funky House into Dubstep and DnB.

Im also an event manager, been running high class VIP nights in Cardiff and Bournemouth over the past 2 years, and done a few themed nights to myself as well.

Dubstep is getting massive, as we all know, and im in talks with clubs all accross the South Coast to create a termly night across the south, creating dubstep's first big night brand (DNB has One Nation, House has Hedkandi etcetcetcetc)

I know alot of mates who DJ dubstep and Id love to throw them in the lime light.

But when doing an event, ive never had to get a well known DJ in. First time ive gone it alone if you get me?

Ideally for our opening night (Which is a surpise where and when ) Id like to get Skream invloved.

Was just wondering if you guys could give me an idea, if anyone has done it before, how much Skream commissions an hour at the moment? or any other well known dubstep Dj's (Rusko, Caspa, Benga, Bar 9, 501) commission for an hour/2 hour set?

All over the UK you will be facing competition on any given night. You might book Skream and some other guy will book Benga and pull half your crowd somewhere else. Start smaller so you don't lose your ass. Also, if you need some top talent around those parts, I can think of some people who will play for cheap with crates that are deep.

yep i couldn't agree more

in fact for your first one seriously don't expect anything and then the peeps that come will be a bonus...it will grow slowly but surely...the big names are probably more than you'd think as well so smaller artists when starting really do make sense

Yeah course its smarting small, not planning a 25,000 festival spending £20,000 on Dj's. Been doing events for years now, but dubstep its going to be the biggest challenge so far as its and up and coming genre.

And yeah ill be in contact as I want to get some homegrown talent from the area to get involved.

I'd also highly recommend getting a big name but not perhaps the very biggest names to start with..if there isn't anything happening right where you are then people will come....N-type is hugely popular and gracious...he would give you a killer set..he's through echo location...you could probably get a couple of em for a wicked rate

Ive seen Ntype like at We Are Your Friends last year, was a quality DJ, as was Caspa and Doorly. Ac Slater was awesome, but that isnt really dubstep.

My point was more to do with representing the whole spectrum of the genre, which judging by your mission statement you are aiming to do. So who are you planning to book from the more "Burial" side of things?

Ok apologies, just like I said, im still new to the genre, so still learning my stuff.

Id like to represent the whole specture, but I do have Dj/artists in mind what Id like to get involved.

I know Burial is super elusive, but will be looking into that soon. At the moment I have my venue and the ideal line up, just in the works of getting it sorted.

You have no chance of booking Burial, so forget about that one. There's plenty of other choices on the non-jump up side of dubstep though.

Yeah ive read alot about Burial that hes stupidly elusive, but there we go.

Ideally what I want is a aggressive in your face Dj such as Rusko/Bar 9 etc, a non-jump Dj and a DNB Dj, to mix it up
