Wait, there's a problem?
Folks, reset yourselves...there is *no* problem, just vibes you can choose to ignore if you don't like them.

I do pretty much agree but that thread bawwwing about friends not listening to dubstep got me thinking
but yeah in reality a friendship based on something as shallow as music taste isn't much of a friendship

...and i thought i agreed with you on most things. tisk.
don't get me wrong... im super diverse. i was grooving out of control the other day to michael jackson! before that day i was listening to fuckin madonna for christ's sake! (shhh). that shit needs to be dub remixed, i don't care what anyone says.
but my god man! dubstep is the shit. this is what dominates my time. listening is the only way to ID the tunes that i wanna spin. when im at work im listening to mixes made by other people. when im at home im making my own mixes. (im exaggerating a bit of course) but really it's pretty much dubstep and the odd big dnb tune that does it for me right now.

Alright, I grew up listening to hip hop. From a child til about, 20 or so...that was my world (with some R&B and Dancehall). I was the stereotypical hip hop kid.
However, nu jazz was always a genre I sorta liked. Just the vibes.
But by the time I got to 20, hip-hop was not interesting to me as much. I still love it, but it's not a 24/7 thing anymore. I'll put it this way, I've had:
a nu jazz period
a d'n'b period
a downtempo period
a break beat perioud
a house period
a dub period
a trip hop period
a afrobeat period
a neo-soul period
etc etc etc
right now I'm dedicating most of my listening to dubstep. All those other genres surface as well. The ratio is like 7:1 as far as dubstep tunes to any other genre when I'm listening at home.
When I can't get a tune done, I listen to random genres....just go get my head outa dubstep mode
but anyway, hip hop will always be this force as far as music goes for me, but dubstep is fresh (to me....all the "dubstep is falling apart" people might think differently lol)

I don't get people who just listen to one genre and one genre only. Being a jazz musician, I try to incorporate as much music as I can into my sound. Lately, it's been mostly dubstep, doom metal, free jazz, 21st century classical, Lester Young, Meshuggah, Mr. Bungle and D'Angelo but it's always changing.
Dubstep is addicting though....they should put a warning label on your first track before you go off the deep end!

It's a bad sign.
I love dubstep but if it's the only thing i listened to i would be worried.
I listen to all music, i apreciate all music.
But i love drum and bass, dubstep and hip hop. But I will never listen to only one music type exclusivly.

I still like other genre's of music obviously. I just don't want to listen to any other genre's because when i do i don't feel it compares to this beautiful genre so go straight back to it. I occasional listen to some Grime, Jungle and Drum & Bass.

Meshuggah! Friggin' yes!
I listen to loads, but as far as electronic stuff goes its pretty much only dubstep. It's the only one that really seems to connect with me. Doesn't make me suck though. As far as i know.
