You can't. You're going from a non-lossy format to a lossy one.

Just use a nice high bitrate. Everybody in choonland seems to have decided upon 320k.

Just go with that, don't stick your neck out and keep facing forward...

Same, highly recommended. Grab that and the latest LAME encoder from http://lame.sourceforge.net and off you go.

Stay far away from VBR too.

Other than that I use the built in encoder in Sound Forge which is also good.

I use Sound Forge usually. That was the first audio program I ever used and I will just continue to use it forever just because.

Audacity uses Lame as well. It is free so it is worth installing imo.
