Right y'all - completely off topic - i wanna get a digital camera - really want to get a small one so i can carry it around with me at all times - ive been recommended these two by freinds - Nikon Coolpix S3 and the Canon IXUS 55.

Do any of you use a digital camera? Can you recommend - there are sooo many choices!!

Thanx!!!

hi, i don't know quite so much about compact cameras but nikon and canon are both good brands. best thing is to look out for something with a minimum of 6 megapixels. good luck!

fuji e550 is a really nice camera. Excellent picture quality, good controls. A bit big to fit in your pocket, but not too bad.

i ould disagree about the 6 megapixels. it obviously depends on what you want to do with it, but 3+ is goo enough for web or small print outs. or, alternately, if you get a camera with no zoom, then go for higher megapixels cos you can artificially zoom digitally.

I'd sollidly recommend the coolpix!

But it depends on what you want to use it for.

If it's for taking pic's when going out, it's by far the superior thing on the market now. The just understand the automatization of the shuttertime the best in an artificial-lighting situation.

Here are the latest pic's we took with our (pretty old) coolpix.

But if you wanna use it mainly for day-time pic's, go for an Olympus. They've got the smallest and best automated models, but my experience with them, is that they suck by night :?

Got the Pink Olympus Mini Mju - comes in 5 diff colours, black, pink, blue, silver and gold. Cost about £150 online...in shops they're about £230.

Had it since christmas and it took me ages to read up on reviews for diff cams on the net but I just wanted a simple camera - easy to use - that I could take out and about for snaps! It does the job really well and is so small and convenient. A recommendation if you want the same kinda thing...

I've found that Olympus cameras have brilliant lenses and my mini mju has a really good flash - I can take photos in the pitch black and they will come out wicked still!

If you do get one though, make sure u order an XD memory card though as well 256 or something cos you only get a 16mb card with it which holds next to nothing.

www.ebuyer.com
www.cameras4u.com

Are both pretty good sites...maybe go into shops like Currys and places to try cameras out for size first then when you decide order off the net for a cheaper price!

Cheers for that...it does seem that ordering online gets you a much better deal...Thanks for the links :)
