i might be totally off on the nomenclature, but i thought breakstep was used by some to refer to ~140bpm tunes with breakbeat elements, like oris jay, zed bias/maddslinky, wookie, artwork, daluq etc.... ie early dubstep/late ukg with broken beat influence? again, don't mark my words

I think it is kind of an outdated term. Anything that can be considered Breakstep now can also be considered Dubstep and 9 times out of 10 it really isn't Breakstep anyway, it's just Dubstep with a breakbeat in it. Don't worry about the difference. Try this - if you like it, listen to it. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. This method has served me well over the years
That said, check out some Savory Audio tunes. I am big on teh breakbeats. One tune in particular just came out that actually is a breakstep tune - abZ - Bumpy (Wascal Rmx) even though it just came out it was written a few years ago when Breakstep was still relevant.

this is probably the 20th thread on this subject (and some of the older ones are at least 10 pages long).
Please in the interests of sanity and clarity, let's use the other threads.

Adding the word "step" to the end of something doesn't actually make a new genre exist... same as putting UK before UK Funky... it's still not an actual parent genre of anything. If you said UK Funky House, it would also be both redundant(house being inherantly funky) and an oxymoron(UK Funky being not even close to funky in any way). In any case, generally they never live up to their name.
Name the last dubby dubstep tune.

this is the most recent breakstep thread. let's try and keep the larger points in the previous threads, because otherwise the discussions go into round abouts.

Yes mate! Blackmass Plastics - Window Smasher is ace too
EDIT: that label seems to be all about the breakbeat/dubstep crossover - Four Aces EP is another goodun and I believe Point B has a release as well? What the hell's the label called I can't remember at the minute...
