dam y'all! I've been making half time DnB tunes for 10 years. Many moons, and I think it sounds more like Hip-Hop, cuz the half-time snare puts it about 85bpm, than dubstep. I actually used to call this Drum-Hop. There were a hand-ful of producers that were doing half-time DnB in the 90's. It ain't nothing new!!

True, but considering that dubstep is becoming massive - and that it seems to be a real blend of both genres (dnb and dubstep), you can see and understand why it might be picking up
It's clear that the genre name is starting to emerge - whatever it gets called, it doesn't matter. Reap the benefits and skank!

Yes - Let's stop bitching about a name. It's being used so we can aptly describe a genre that people are into

Let's just enjoy the music and forget about all the "Urgg... the name Drumstep is so stupid".
If it's so stupid then just call it "Half-step-DnB" and feel better about yourself
Enjoy the music people!

Very happy theres space on here for more than dubstep.
Call it hopping on the bandwagon, but I've been way more attracted to making things at a higher pace. I really enjoy the American Rock pounding tempo with the dubstep sounds and drum and bass structure.
Heres what I got going, very open to ideas.
