To me, and non-idiots, it's the same thing. It's not new.
add some digital from 99/00 as well.

this is a new genre, this is liquid drumstep. it is one of the best genres i think, and you have pulled it off very good, well by the looks of things you are the creator. the percussion and drums are really layered, it is a really nice kit sound.
very good production

wooda916 wrote:what a stupid name for a non-genre.

Its just drum and bass except half step. its nothing new its been around for ages and it doesn't need defining and setting aside as a separate thing.

Heres a mix by a guy called Dabbler posted on here in 2008 thats all 170 half step beats.

http://www.dubstepforum.com/topic59117.html
and Dabbler says "whatever you want to call it".

I have listened to the mix and an interesting & nice selection it is for sure, but dare I say it, because of where the snare falls, only a couple of the tunes fall into what we have described as drumstep. As I said, I personally use the term Drumstep as a descriptive term, and it does not describe this mix in my opinion.

Like it or not, what do you call Crissy Criss's "Kick Snare" release? 1 track is Dubstep, 1 track is Drumstep. There is no other way to put it! http://www.juno.co.uk/products/Kick-Sna ... 395745-01/

Here's a fair question: what makes a tune "liquid"? Does that make the other styles "solid"?
liquid has rhodes pianos.

DUH.

if you're deliberately being a devil's advocate cockmongler then just say so, it makes sifting thru these bullshit threads alot easier. im not amused by your cheekiness, because it makes it impossible to have an actual conversation

The Jungle/HipHop/Ragga point just highlights the ridiculousness of your denial!
In fact if there is only a minimal difference between house and garage, and if dubstep came from garage, then by your logic, dubstep doesn't even exist.. it is just house music!!!

actually that's exactly what im saying you dumbfuck. im saying all these genre classifications are RETARDED and that its all just music. i dont even know what denial you're talking about

if aphex twin and photek made dubstep years before anyone was calling it dubstep, then does dubstep even exist ?

this whole thread is facepalmingly stupid. a few of you get it but for the most part, i weep for the new generation

The denial of different genres! What is the harm? It is not just all music. I hate trance with a passion! For me it is not in the same category as Dubstep or DnB. Forgive me if that is pointing out the obvious!
What "new generation" are you talking about by the way? Surely you don't mean me???

lol the name drumstep sounds silly tho. it sounds as if drum n bass heads heard dubstep and basically tried to make their music like that. sure it must of caused ideas and inspiration but the name would suggest some direct copying.
