its funny though how it happens so often that people lose it and instinctively reach for the 'indie' magic button
the same happened to me with that new darkstar album - it was just really boring to me and had nothing of North or previous singles had.
Darkstar - used to be good - got infected with indie
Mt Kimbie - used to be good - got infected with indie beige
James Blake - used to be good ages ago - got infected with indie even more, why cnat he stop fuckign singing
i can understand bros wanting to develop their sound, i certainly wouldnt want to be doing fucking robo brostep videos forever lol but why get more and more boring and beige and i dunno tbh. prob jsut teh way it is and not worth discussing lol

I think both albums (mt kimbie, darkstar) suffer from terrible inconsistency. But Darkstar are deffo best of the three as far as singing go. With mt eden erm, kimbie finishing all the way at the bottom.
I did not like the James Blake album as I stated before. His singles are still quite good though.

I like Darkstars album, definitely wish they'd made that album that had tunes similar to Aidy's Girl Is A Computer though.

I know it's mainstream so everyone will have heard of it but the new queens of the stone age album is really good. best one since songs for the deaf after the last two kind of meh records.
new boards of Canada sound good on the stream too.
seems so far out of the big hyped popular releases the only disappointment is the kind of mediocre daft punk album which only had maybe 3 tracks I have kept listening to.

yeh, enjoying the new album from QOTSA aswell. I can definitely hear a david bowie influence in some of josh homme's singing.

Have to revive this:
Lustmord - The Word as Power
Takes everything that makes his dark ambient sound so great and teamed up with vocalists including Maynard James Keenan.
And if you didn't know it he used to work with Tool and did a side project with Mayard James Keenan Puscifer.

Phaelah's Tides has some really nice headphone tracks (& enclosed CD);
the femme vocals are a little overdone
but the sub is always weighty & percussion intricate.
It could compete with Seven Lies for best of bass crew efforts for 2013.
Otherwise the new Underground Lovers LP Weekend (out on vinyl) is excellent
& I was surprised to enjoy a tuneful summery bunch of songs in a record shop that turned out to be Jagwa Ma.
Can't quite recommend Tricky's new album but he's gradually getting his shit together.

yeah I was a bit suss at first
then had lots of listens thru speakers AND headphones
the cheese sort of melted & the poppiness got undermined
as I heard past the film scores
to something that Forensics mixes always had:
complexity & lasting interest.
o & the sub drops, tho subtle, are heavy
It's interesting how he hasn't brought as much of his usual UKG influences.
We'll just have to differ on this one Wolfie.
edit: the more I listen, the more it sounds like trip-hop

Awesome stuff, couple of dancefloor tracks, some vocal cuts, some downtempo. The 10min long techno workout 'Milk' is doing the business, as is the opening track 'Bad Kingdom', which also has an awesome video;
Proper hyped for seeing them in November

Still not sure on this album. don't think it quite match's the original album but i like that they are going in a different direction even if it is a tad cheesy.
think jon hopkins immunity might be the one so far for me this year.
