I was lead to believe that only people resident for the past two years were eligible to vote
but a quick reading of the Scottish Parliament's franchise act suggests that it was anyone on the local government electoral rolls.
Can any Scots on here clarify who was eligible to vote?

There can't be a claim of English rorting referendum legislation because all the details were determined by the Scottish Parliament
and it is noteworthy that the strongest Nay vote came from border districts & strongest Aye vote from biggest cities.
Noteably, the highlands and western isles didn't want to secede, presumably a conservative instinct.
