im thinking of getting hd 600's i was wondering if this amp would do them justice, or save and get a quality amp?

My Beyerdynamics DT990 just arrived.
What can I say really.
Awesome stuff.
Super comfy, deeeeep bass, perfect expression of every sound.
SOOOO Happy.

On a side note.
You can quite successfully use in-ear headphones to mix down.

interesting, i just had look on amazon, i think i might go whith these rather than the hd 600's...the dt990's are 250 ohm and hd's are 80 ohm. is there any difference? and would this amp work for either of these headphones... http://www.amazon.com/Dayton-DTA-100a-C ... 00&sr=1-22

It's important that you have something above a certain level that conveys at least a certain level of information. Then you have to do an absolute fuckload of listening - always - to get to know them totally intimately.

For certain physics/physical reasons - as well as pure practicality - I have gone for headphones. But not just any old headphones, you know?

Of course, the real big places have stuff that is pushing the last inch of benefit in rooms worthy of them. But personally I baulk when I hear about people putting their £1000 monitors in a square, untreated room. Cans have their disadvantages, but until I can spend at least 4 or 5 grand on monitoring (room and monitors, that is), I'll stick with what works.

Been using my AKG k121 for producing for a while. They have a lovely crisp sound but they lack in the low end. Otherwise really good for mixing vocals and higher sounds, and the quality they give is just crystal clear, but unfortunately they don't have good low end which doesn't make them that useful for dubstep.

I changed to Allen&Heath's XD-53 that i actually bought for DJing but they sound soooo sick I decided to use them for producing and I really hear a bigger clarity in my mixes. I don't regret spending a single cent on these they are just insane and the bass is so good. Really recommend them!

It has taken my DT990 from great to amazing.

I'm surprised to see that they haven't been mentioned on here, what's everyone's opinions on them?

I think you mixed up that name lol. Either "Sony MDR-7506" or "KRK KNS8400" or "KRK KNS6400"

Sennheiser HD 202:
Cheap at $50ish
Pros: Besides being good entry level, i find them to be extremely comfortable, and they cover bass range quit well
Cons: Cables Fairly flimsy and if your have a good budget most thing in the $100 range and up will sound better

I listen to music on ATH-M50s. Will they work for production?

but in studio (time 0.54) he use Audio-Technica... like a boss too simple

100-200$ I`d go Beyerdynamics DT770 or DT990

Both are available for under $200
Other folks will suggest other brands.
Whichever works for you.

You also need to consider your production environment.
Can you use open backed?
Or do you have a noisy environment.

I picked up a pair of KRK 8400s cheap and they seem really good, I can actually hear sub bass now . Really comfy and they block out so much outside noise, I keep missing texts and calls as I cant hear my phone through them heh

I find them very comfy to wear, and can wear them for a few hours, its just when i take them off my ears are incredibly sore.

I have average sized ears i suppose
