Sometimes I don't bother changing the name before I send out a tune, one time I sent a guy a tune called "pooptron_2" or something like thatMegaladon wrote:I've got so many tracks named after films or just random words from the tv that was on at the time, it really does make things difficult to find doesn't it.T40 wrote:I name all my projects something stupid and forget which project is which a couple of days later.
I also have a constant habit of rearranging folders in which samples are contained for somereason trying to make shit more organised , and I end up opening Reason and it can't find the samples so i got to relocate them all.
Also tend to drink a lot of beer when producing, I always find it relaxes me a lot more and i get so much more ideas and once i have one idea I'm on a role for the rest of the night.
I also have a stupid habit of playing a track in progress about 50 times over and just walk round the room and constantly open the fridge even if i aint hungry and there's nothin in it... Sometimes it makes me bored of the track before it's even completed

that not stupid thats a good thing to do its also one of the hardest things to do and i think some people dont do this at all.Dignan wrote:Something weird I do... when I'm done working on a tune, which is usually around 1-2am, I turn off all the lights in the room, close my eyes, and play back what I've done with my back to the computer. dude this is something lots of people should do. I do the same. Listen your own tracks without seeing the visuals of your daw. If the eye cant see anything the ear will be forced to listen better.Dignan wrote:Something weird I do... when I'm done working on a tune, which is usually around 1-2am, I turn off all the lights in the room, close my eyes, and play back what I've done with my back to the computer. sometimes it works against me though. Like if I hear something that sounds good while I'm in "listener mode", I might second guess myself whilst in "producer mode" and think it sounds bad. Anyone else have this dilemma?michaelvman wrote:Hmmm think i mite start doing this.R wrote:dude this is something lots of people should do. I do the same. yes, tho to me the listeners ear mostly wins. I make music for the listenersDignan wrote:sometimes it works against me though. I get this allot. I find It is very hard to critique my own shit from an outside perspective no matter what kind or art I am doing.... A trick that I use is to pretend that I'm looking at something someone else painted or listening to something that someone else made. It works wonders becasue I find I judge my own shit harder than I judge anyone elses.Dignan wrote:sometimes it works against me though.
