i just enjoy the chance to get a few good mates together and go out and do something cool/go for a nice meal/go ou and get smashed/have a party/get some sweet gifts/see family + do sumat nice with them etc.

dont see that as pointless at all

used to baffle me as a kid why people put more stock in Xmas than their own birthdays, mainly cos my family never really celebrate Xmas and my birthday is 2 weeks before Xmas day, but ye, i dont find birthdays at all pointless

my dad hates his birthday, he wont even open his presents, but thats because he's a miserable git sometimes and is socially retarded...

i never celebrate my birthday, loads of crap shit has happened around it and the last time i had a proper "party" was when i was 5 and even then it wasn't the kind of celebration everyone else would have. eventually my mum stopped being arsed to bake cakes or wrap the presents so i would get shop bought cakes and things in a bag (which isn't a huge deal, it was just the reason why she wasn't making an effort that was a big deal). birthdays generally made me feel either guilty or regretful. lol. prefer christmas

Yeah, but you can do that any other day as well

this
Last year a few friends sang happy b-day for me in a bar. I fucking stormed out of there

And fuck xmas as well. Every year I try to get a party going on, but it never happens cause pretty much all my friends want to spend time with their families and all that. Not to mention the fucking carols.

I definitely prefer Christmas to Birthdays... it's only one person's birthday at a time, but it's Christmas for everyone at once.

This. I do always go for a meal with my parents and girlfriend or something, but I'd dread a party for me haha.

Love Christmas though, it's like everybody's birthday, so I get to celebrate and party and shit all the time, just not everything is on me.

So, what does this have to do with it not being a birthday?
