I haven't read the rest of/previous comments, but he makes a good point. So why don't you explain yourself here Jesslem. Why berate this man? I don't go out to a party to rekindle with my friends? I can do that before at the pub, or the day after? Or they can come with me.
I've honestly never texted a friend and said "hey let's meet up after such a long time, let's go and see kahn together so we can catch up".

loool yeah fair enough you go with a mate you aint seen in a while and catch up in the smoking area or before/after the event, but surely common sense dictates that the best place to catch up with a mate is not in a room with music playing too loud for you to hear the person next to you talk, unless you speak in sign language of course.

On the drive/commute to a party there can be some banter. But once inside my communication skills are usually limited to "want another beer?", "Incoming!", "this is dope", "this is shite" (replace 'this' by crowd or beer). Names of tunes, "I'm going to the restroom brb" "there's a queue at the restroom man, fucking cokeheads", "who's next on the bill?" "what time is it" and finally, "shouldn't we be leaving".
On the way back there is usually only one question "where are we stopping for food" and either I'm too wasted or, when I'm driving, my passangers/buddies are too wasted.
That's hardly catching up though.

I asked because the statement he was responding to was something along the lines of "they go to see friends". They don't give a fuck who's on. The idea behind Boiler Room, which makes it different to other nights is that it's invitation only. They aren't going out to hear their favourite producer drop tunes in a traditional environment. It's essentially a private event, , in fact, it originally looked more like a house party.
Dunno about you but I personally don't give a fuck who's playing tunes when I'm at a house party.

Additionally, not everyone who plays boiler room is a DJ. Little Dragon, Mount Kimbie, Animal Collective just to name a few...

No I wasn't. My point was that going there to be with friends is a legitimate reason.
