Niice track! sounds like you need to neaten the rough edges a bit, try making more of a feature of the "This thing" sample, maybe have a slightly longer pause before it and cut out any other background sounds when its playing as it sounds like a bit of a sensitive sample if you know what i mean, liking the kick straight after though, well timed

Thanks for the feedback! I've done exactly as you said, lengthened the 'Drop', taken out background noise and also automated a filter over the sample. Cuts in a lot more now, plus i've added a few sample clips inside the track.
The finished track is on my myspace,

Hi, just signed up to this forum today, been looking through this thread, there are some really good tracks on here, thought I would throw some of my stuff into the mix. Created this in logic, took me a couple of days see what you think. P.S, the track above this, infection, might want to try a sub-bass oscillator underneath your main bass for the drop, it lacks a little power.

Thanks man, head over to the Dub section and there's a thread you can post in to get a free 320 copy. Head over there if you want one!
Love the sample, hate the kick drum. It gets lost in the bass, try layering a few new ones up. What Intalekt said about the drop is true too. Perhaps bring the sub for the drop but cut out for the last part of the vocal sample? Only other major thing would be texture, maybe whack a few little sounds in there!
Intalekt, i'm typing as i'm listening. That intro is fucking creepy! Like the 'footstep' sound. Is that a flushing toilet right before the main drop?
Liking the use of rides and crashes instead of hi-hats, the only main problem is that the reverb on the snare gets caught up in the reverb and delay of them. You could either layer it with a flat sounding DnB style snare, or perhaps cut out the cymbals directly after each snare hit? It'd create a pretty stop/start effect but would fit well with the rest of the track.

Infection Song:
The kick drum needs to layered, needs that punchy effect just sounds a little lifeless atm. Could also layer up the snare, maybe some white noise underneath it and either a clap or another snare. Maybe fatten up the bass some more, brostep has a heavy bassline, granted I'm listening to peoples songs on my headphones. Still, good song, would be great to hear it when its finished.

Yeah I'll give that a go, see what I can figure out, the whole texture of the treble in that track has been bugging me for a while, so I might just re-do the snare/drum kit as a whole, see what I can do. The rides/crashes were recorded on my drum kit though so I'm stuck with some of that 'verb.
As for the kick in infection, yeah you could layer it, or spend some time with a combination of pre/post compression EQ and add some meat that way, because layering it might bring it forward in the mix too much.
Loving "this thing" though, seriously dirty. What DAW you using?

Hello all, I've been looking at this thread for a while and listening to some of the stuff posted here, really like it!
Anyway, I've just started playing around and I'm looking for suggestions/helps/tips to help me form tracks in general and fill them much better, so any suggestions/input would be good. It started out dubsteppy and quickly turned into something different but I'll post it anyway! I just really liked the sample I found.

I know the climb sounds a bit empty, and I was struggling to find something to shuffle it up a bit, maybe a sharp but airy clap on the offbeat? Also, I know after the Launch321 sample, the drop is pretty bland.
Cheers!

The intro is dope man, when it drops at 00:56 the melody sounds a little dissonant but not bad if that's the effect you want, good overall though.

Haven't been to sleep but I've been working on this song for the last few hours. Third song that I have created, still, needs a lot more improvement to get it better.
The vocals sound off, try either speeding them up or cutting them into pieces and cueing them in time.

The tempo on this track seems way fast to me try putting a 2 step drum beat in it maybe.

Yea, it started off at 140bpm and I bumped it to 150 and 175 after the drop. Maybe it just sounded better to me at that speed because at 140bpm, the climb was even longer and even more stretched out, and the kind of emptiness was more obvious.
I'll give the 2 step drum beat a go, I guess that would give it a bit of a shuffle. Thanks!

If you mean the vocals near the end of the song then they have auto pan, simple delay on them and something else which is why it may sound off.

I'm assuming the cymbals have been loop recorded and not just a straight playback? You could cut the audio files up a bit, like i said the whole track is pretty stop/start so it might turn out cool!
Thanks for the comment, if you hop into the 'Dubs' section it's available for free download! Just gotta post. I'm using Logic 8, but most of the track minus the drums are fucked up samples!

@Zonetrooper, yeah mate the vocals are off time, not really any sub in there, may want to think about it, has potential though, I like the little rises and samples
@Squalid, really fast, what tempo you writing at? got some potential for some gabbastep lol, again sample in it is cool, just need to work on that structure
