Me likey tune. Me no understandy use of word hysteria in article. Man make fire.
Got that? I LIKE THE TUNES. I don't like the hyperbole writers use in creating this sense of some sort of frenzy that took place. I liken it to Fox News and the "Tea Party" protests... "Oh yea, there are 20,000 protesters here, seething with rage over Obama's healthcare plan"
Pan to the left or to the right and the official estimate seems far more like 500. Are people mad? You Betcha. Are there 20,000? No there are not. Nobody here in this thread has said these tunes were anything short of great. I like the tunes. Why is THAT so hard to accept? It can still be the tune of the year and have no hysteria involved. The only hysteria was in the blogs. Everyone else just thought it was a good/great/awesome release. Hysteria is people being trampled and shit or standing in line. I've not once seen this release sold out on any shop. Not to say it's not selling because it obviously is. It's probably well stocked. If there was hysteria, well stocked or not, there'd be none left at any price.
Hysteria was WAR001.
So again I say unto thee: Hysteria... surely not. Histrionics on the part of writers... well the media has been known to embellish the facts a bit in the past.
You do understand that people can be absolutely in love with a tune and not be hysterical right?
The term also occurs in the phrase mass hysteria to describe mass public near-panic reactions. It is commonly applied to the waves of popular medical problems that "everyone gets" in response to news articles. A similar usage refers to any sort of "public wave" phenomenon, and has been used to describe the periodic widespread reappearance and public interest in UFO reports, crop circles, and similar examples. Also, when information, real or fake, becomes misinterpreted but believed, e.g. penis panic. Hysteria was often associated with events like the Salem Witch Trials, or slave revolt conspiracies, where it is better understood through the related sociological term of moral panic.
Let me just quote the relevant part of the Resident Advisor writeup here...string wrote:Jesus, give it a rest, alot of people liked the song, so they are going to talk about it. It may get overblown, but as you clam you like the song, WHY does it bother you so much that it gets overblown.
I just don't get it. Where was the hysteria... where was the panic... by all means talk about it. I saw like 2-3 threads on the tune over the past 2 months. Emalkay's release on Dub Police(horrible tune imo) created far more interest from the 'dubsteppers' and I don't even like the release. All I did was question the word usage as being factually inaccurate and Seckle, who didn't produce the tune, didn't release the tune on his label, isn't fucking the guy who produced the tune or the guy who released the tune on his label, doesn't run the distributor-he took exception like his opinion somehow matters, about how we shouldn't question something that is blatantly not the case. There was no hysteria. What license did they take with words here?Orbison excited his scene—he had dubsteppers more than excited for "Hyph Mgno," it bordered on hysteria, prompting discourse and dancing in equal measure—but it also garnered unlikely love for the producer from DJs like Peter Van Hoesen, Deadbeat and Will Saul. It was, quite simply, a phenomenon.

They said there was hysteria, I said there was no hysteria... ooooh that's trolling... ooooooooh. Go fuck yourself. Who are you again? Nobody? Thought so. It's not our fault you have small man complex and being in a position of e-thority is all you have in your life. You aren't about shit. Quote me on that.
You've yet to refute a single thing I've said. Rather, you've made many a failed attempt to paint me as a troll. It's not your fault, you just suck at life. Go have a coke and a smile fucking prick. Don't confuse your post count with the size of that pimple you call a dick guy.
your post makes me angry and sad in equal measure. plus I really don't understand what your point is, other than, in your opinion, there isn't 'hysteria' over this tune. which is a bit of a ridiculous thing to get so worked up about, as i don't think anyone could say it's a precisely defined term, and it's merely your opinion anyway.RealityHz wrote:What exactly is the reality then, bitch?seckle wrote:you're reporting fuck all. first off, who are you exactly? nov 2009 on this forum and all of a sudden you're the man with facts yeah? we should be listening to realityHZ, because realityHZ's got it all figured out? please man.. go make another alias, and keep running from reality.RealityHz wrote: I'm just reporting the facts bro.

These are the same bearded fucks who were all over Shed last year, which no offense to said artist, was overrated and overhyped as fuck.
This is the only thing that needed to be said really. It's a good tune and it had a huge impact, out to Joy Orb.seckle wrote:Why can't people be genuinely happy for someone
If you personally didn't see/hear the hysteria, then it doesn't mean the hysteria never occured. And don't forget however good dubstepforum is as a barometer for dubstep, it isn't real life. So what I think Resident Advisor are getting at is the hysteria in clubs, and it would mainly be the clubs in Europe, so being in America, it would be difficult to feel it. I didn't really goto many clubs around that time, so I never knew the tune was getting alot of support from a wide spectrum of DJs, all I knew is the media were getting behind the tune heavily, AND that after the first pressing off Hyph Mngo sold out, it was going for £15-20+ on eBay, even though another pressing would obviously be on the way. Suggesting that it wasn't just dubstep heads buying it, cos they would know about more pressings and not be stupid enough to pay that kind of money for it.RealityHz wrote:I just don't get it. "This release was great! It is known to cause cancer in the State of California."
I'm just reporting the facts bro. Causing cancer just means it's stimulating and addictive like Tobacco. Right?
