I just say 'bass music'. Much broader term, and people don't instantly assume you listen to em tee eden

the style of music dubstep developed from...

youtube: El B, Horsepower productions...

time was El-B and Horsepower were called "dubstep" to differentiate their sound from the rest of garage....

this is garage surely:

it's so funny the difference between UK and US. I still have to kind of explain what dubstep is if I tell people I'm into it. most people don't have anything associated with it.

So Solid Crew - Dilema, because the beat wasnt a real 2step beat pattern

still a lot of refrehing stuff coming out
but i still like to call future garage dubstep so thats maybe why i still enjoy dubstep a lot ;)

i just still enjoy dubstep as garage, grime, future garage, - everything between 135 and 145 is dubstep for me (makes life more easy)

I'm not trying to say i was at the start (because I wasnt) but the last 3 - 4 years I've seen the genre I loved go from amazing an innovative to bogged down and repetitive. Obviously this is a sweeping genralisation, but the last year has seen me listen to less and less dubstep and more and more other 125-140 bass musics. Dubstep still has good elements, but for the most part it has been taken over by idiots (not producers, i mean people who listen to it) who make me feel ashamed to say i like dubstep (which tbh I dont anymore, I get too bored with unimaginative half step drum patterns) one good thing thats come out of the last year for me is the garage revival!
