ok, so there is a difference between slicing a beat to midi and transcribing (if thats the word

) to midi.
by slicing it to midi, you can get the general timing of all the hits translated to midi and that's about it.
with an audio to midi tratment though, you can isolate certain frequencies and make them correspond to certain midi notes, thus when a specific frequency occurs in a beat, a specific midi note is triggered. this way, you can translate the whole performance to midi with separate kick, snare, hihat, perc, or whatever other hits and their velocities too. whereas with slicing, if a hihat and kick hit at the same time, you only get one midi event with generic velocity.
