Cheers for all the replies. Interesting stuff.
I'm rocking 'LMMS' right now - Linux Multimedia Studio. It looks pretty similar to FL but more simple, which is exactly what I want for knocking out quick tunes.
Is it a big pain in the ass getting MIDI controllers to work in Linux then?

all depends which one.
i started off making tunes in LMMS, was alright to start with but glad i made the switch.

I have, I use an Archlinux system daily, administer multiple Centos servers and develop in Linux - am I allowed an opinion yet
Seriously though, Wine is better than it was. Still wouldn't trust it live though, if you paid me. It would take more than JACK to make me use it in the studio, too, although I do wish the Windows audio system worked in a similar way.

No l33t skillz here lol. Windows 7 does everything I need to do on a pc.
