If only, trust me, pump a softsynth osc through one of these (bypassing the softsynths own) turn up the drive and you get some of that moogy fatness. Plus the env it awasome and you can cop them pretty cheap on ebay from time to time.

ive got a monotron now too, only got thus not had a chance to use on external audio, def a nice filter tho.
