By the new team of mods + myself?
yea just thinking for the long haul and say when new products come out/get discontinued or when things need to be added/amended
plus i have a feeling with locked topics where questions couldn't be posted there would still be quite a bit of overflow here
Easy solution to that one, you have your archived, stickied and locked threads, then the option to post a new topic with a tutorial/with knowledge, a thread for requests for what you wanna see in the sub forum.
Afterall, this is a forum for music makers so theres always going to be new questions and people who can't be bothered to look for stickies/already posted topics.. - if you just want general banter - thats what the ninja hideout is for. This idea is mainly to keep all the bible knowledge within DSF, opposed to using a external wiki website.

well i mean there already is a
http://blog.dubstepforum.com/
why not a
http://wiki.dubstepforum.com/
it'd have to be run by dubway, but it would offer a lil more flexibility

Ello leg,
Firstly i have not been here all that long but what i can see of you is straight and fair. so good modding as far as i can see =-).
A regular competition thread sounds awesome, small prizes as an insentive would be good. I think more than anything it would help strengthen the community a bit. Get a lot of new producers coming out the woodwork on the "finished" tracks thread so might get them to chat a bit more first. also i think people would be more enclined to give there thoughts on peoples tracks etc if they know eachother a bit better.
Minor prizes like sample packs or money off vouchers (audiojelly and beatport etc might wanna get in on this). Best track compos and remix compos with either a judging panel or maybe user voted? i dont know. but either way sounds like a good idea, gets the ol noodle going.
Could you implement it so people have to post a number of times before being able to post in certain threads such as finished track etc? just stops people waltzing in and out a bit, again tightens the community up and bit and also prevents people from just dumping tracks without taking part properly?
No more thoughts as yet but this is a really good thread to post about now, which i guess adds to another good mod decision :p.
keep it up matey :p

Honestly I would like to see more moderation
Less tolerance of waste threads
Lock the non-production bash fests on established producers, etc
My 2cents

that and a quick reference to a relevant link then lock to the questions that keep getting repeated consistently

I do my best guys .. No offense to sharm but I do mod on my own a lot of the time and deciding weather to lock a thread or not can be tricky, spesh when its hit 3 pages before ive ever got a chance to see it.

Greetings
I'd like to see a third constant (not monthly) sticky, revolving purely around "clips" of tracks, a few benefits:
# It's half way between 'works in progress' and 'finished songs for feedback'
# Some people don't want to upload full tracks # Average attention spans (LOL you funny bastidz can stop reading here

)
# Acute focus on specific areas
# Perhaps salvation for tracks that are 'in the unused graveyard of riffs' - great way to get a little use of thigns previously deemed as 'discarded'
# Faster way to sift and recognise styles
# More favourable to mixing/sample extraction (particularly for those submitting unused clips i.e. drum loops etc)
# Greater focus on production values if it's a shorter clip
# Less demanding of the rest of the world 'to give your shit a quick listen'
Thought of starting a 'clips' thread many times, got ample unfinished tracks that have a painfully cool and unused part within them, hah

I'm sorry but I am ready to throw out feedback threads all together, if people are so unsure about their tracks they need to post every single one in a feedback thread - they either need to build a network of production friends up or spend more time in the studio.
The feedback threads were a compromise, because people kept posting their tracks in threads so we made stickies but I personally think its just time to clamp down and stop it all together.. So this suggestion, however nice it sounds in theory is denied I am afraid to say.

I like that idea, but I can see it going tits up right of the bat.

Understood. I think it's a bit misguided to assume people upload their songs because of insecurities though. Also I'd dare say 'production friends and studio time' apply more to quenching anything but the most basic of questions, whilst a place like this seems a ripe chance to build up networks for feedback (i.e. feedback is more based on opinion, answering questions actually needs a degree of education and understanding). I was under the impression clip formats could make the system more light hearted in peer-to-peer exposure, even though I rarely upload any of my stuff. Problem is, without feedback threads, it becomes difficult to sift the walkers from the talkers, next thing you know you've got the blind leading the blind as the whole game becomes a bit of a one-way relationship with experienced folks getting little out of it
Not militant about the idea etc, but the aim of a forum is to offer more than static research can, seems a bit self destructive to essentially tell people "OI! NAFF OFF WID UR TUNES, NETWORK ELSE WHERE!"

WEll, you can network outside of the feedback threads - ive had plenty of people add me on aim from something ive posted here and they thought "hey, this guy kinda knows what hes on about, i'll get in contact with him".
These feedback threads seem to be split inbetween - half of the community gets something out of it.. 25% spams and 25% just uses it at dubs #2.
Its a tricky circumstance and the new modding team will have to work this one out, I would imagine.

I'd like some sort of "Best answer" feature where the OP of a thread can ask a question and then nominate the post that best answers it or that was the most helpful. This post could then be highlighted or brought to the top so that people can easily see when a thread has been answered or when the OP is satisfied with the help they've got. Might also save some of the repetition to make it easier to reference threads in the Bible etc...

definitely want to 2nd the wiki idea. I think DSF has the potential to create quite possibly the greatest production resource known to man, but it needs to be a wiki or something similar in order to keep it nice and organised (also it means it can be moderated by the community itself).
Also 2nd the removal of finished tracks. I generally find it useless, whereas the wip thread has it's moments.

please do so the dubs section is properly used, like how they don't go on the main board or music section
also i'd like to see a dj section or something
the dj equipment/how do i mix threads really don't belong here
