what might even be cheaper is buying a large internal drive and turning it into an external by buying a case. built a 250 gig for about $112 or so. bout 56p for you.

I'd recommend avoiding Lacie. We used them at work for a while, they basically all failed.

G-tech makes nice ones - I've got a G-Raid - but they're a bit expensive.

Buying a nice fast HD and a cheap enclosure is probably the way to go, IMO. If the enclosure dies, it's no big loss, and you can just get another one.

high volume internals are getting cheaper every day too.

saw one on sale a while back, 700 gigs for like $90
