~Raves are one of the best parties you can go to, I don't see why they should be illegal other than that banning them is a symbol of social control (a bit like the police being allowed to disperse a group of two or more youths for no reason fucking oppressive or what?)

to be fair i think the fact they are illegal is what makes them. Get there before the police so when they do turn up they can do absolutely fuck all to those who have made it!
Heard there was a 'wall of death' created there. Im not for moshing and pitting at Dubstep raves but I think there in that kind of environment it would be part of the experience. Everyone on an absolute mad'n.

those gashcollective raves have been hit and miss. missed the one this weekend, but ones in the past have either been sick, or closed down stupidly early leaving hundreds or thousands of people stranded in random places which is a massive ballache.
but yeah, its nothing new, its probably big and clever though. good when it works, videos of the warrington one look mint to be fair. respect to the guys who put them on. even if the numbers are always premium rate somehow. sneaky

I don't know where any free parties are in LA area. I have a friend who lives in Santa Cruz and he says there are some good free parties like that but I don't get it, am I just not in cool enough circles to hear about these in the LA area or do they just not happen? Someone help me out! The anarchist in me is DYING to go to free shows. DIY OR DIIIE

Heard there was some dodgy characters about but at these raves what do you expect. No police, just security that the organisers have hired. Do they even get paid? Either way the majority of em don't give a fuck. On that video of the Warehouse one i posted there is a security guard just skinning up on a table. I think by being one you are guaranteed to get there?
My mates (all absolutely spangled) were asked by police when they left if they had seen any lads running around jacking people up at knife point. From youtube comments it seems to have happened to a few people. None of my mates got robbed but they were in a large group (about 15). I think there is always going to be these situations at parties like that.
Some people have an amazing night with no trouble whilst others get their night spoiled by some utter fucking prick who takes the opportunity to rob people at knife point due to minimal security presence.

Yeah some dodgey shit can happen sometimes, I've hear of people advertising 'free parties' only for people to fall in to a trap for jacking unsuspecting victims! It's all about kicking it with hippies in woodlands

i went to it. the problems with the party line were a bit annoying as i heard it was going to be at snakes pass in sheffield. so was waiting to get it confirmed on the line, luckily my mate got the proper location and off a few of us went. got there about 1am, loads of coppers parked at the entrance, didn't seem to be doing anything though. was a sick night to be fair, big shout to the gash guys for organising it. as gash raves are so big now the people there make it a sick vibe, maybe being spangled helps, it did feel safer than some of the smaller raves i've been to. of course there were some stnuc (expected with 5000+ people), and i've heard of a few flashing knives about. stick in the middle of the rave and you'll be fine. what i don't understand though is why did the system get seized the next morning? we left around 7/8 and heard it finished about 11am and the police took it. i'm guessing no one stayed around the system at the end. fucking shit as now there probably won't be another one before summer. the police should be looking for the guys with knives and not taking the fucking joy away from it.

The only decent ones ive been too were the Houseparty ones what happened around 06ish which was alright cause I was only 15/16 but don't see the point in em anymore.. I went to one before Christmas and the soundsystem was amazing just the music coming from it wasn't .

REEEEEALLY want to go to one/play at one up North. The ones around London that I hear about are usually dodgy psy-trance ones.
Really want to go to a Gash one, but its a bit of a mish if it gets raided early!!

The police can't do anything once it's started, they can definitely before before any music has started and I don't know what the grounds are for after the event has finished...

That's kind of odd cos the psytrance raves have a reputation for being a lot more friendly and laid back. Which I think is why they tend to party seperately from other rigs playing techno etc. I've never been to one in London though, so maybe not.

Ive been going to the parties put on by the soundsystems that did the party on sat for around 3 or 4 years now, always a quality night, generally not alot of bother unless your an idiot who decides to wander off by themselves and flashes out a blackberry or some other fancy phone (generally the younger inexperienced sort) The trouble has generally increased recently but its nothing too major like i said if youre streetwise. The party on sat was mint, good seeing loads of old faces but there was many many young people there who at times looked lost but seemed to be having a great time.
Music in my opinion i would have liked a little more dubstep but jump-up is alright if youre nicely mashed.
With regards to the security theyre all friends of the soudsystems involved and don't get paid they just volunteer to make sure things are going alright. I stayed around till around half9 and i met some heads up at warrington station an hour later who said there was a large police presence around 10ish and rumours have been circulating that the rig has been taken. But its all very quiet from the soundsystems front as you'd expect so who knows.
If you can get to one, definetely make the trip up! Recently theyve become more infrequent so you'll probably waiting a fair while for the next one
