I've never understood why people follow a genre rather than following good music, actually I do understand, it's so people can feel safe in their bubble and feel the camaraderie and friendship that comes with being in a scene. All this should come secondary to the actual music IMO

That seems to be a pretty big call to me, there seems to be a significant number of great releases over the last 18 months

i always try to do that but they say its boring music when i go to more deep dubstep events and if they play Borgore, Skrillex, Doctor P and all that kind of dubstep they say that its alaways the same

tbh not many friends are listening to dubstep of mine and if they listen to dubstep its Borgore, Skrillex, Doctor P, Flux, .... that kind of dubstep

okay i see where youre coming from, but youre also kind of missing the point. im saying, would subgenres give people some tolerance? for example, if someone released a datsik like song with robotic type basses, and they labeled it "hardstep" or "filthstep" or something, would that be better than just classifying it all as "dubstep" and having people get angry over "what dubstep is"?

Yeah totally, when my friends call it brostep Im just like 'Yep, know exactly what you mean, thats what it is, and its good.'

I dont think you need to suggest another word, like you said hardstep and filthstep, i dont see the offensiveness to the word 'brostep' and like i said the word itsself has spread far beyond the realms of DSF and touched down with regular ravers and dubstep fans. Rolls right off the toungue, explains what they want to explain in one word vs. having to say 'heavy robotic sounding dubstep', and gives room to breathe for the original roots of the genre.

See nothing wrong with it, embrace it personally, and like I said, by the time its hit average American kids, subgenre's are here, not a question of if we need them or if they're coming or what the point of them is, fact stated, they are here.
