I wouldn't hold your breath, people have been asking for almost a decade. They said it's a stability issue, it's supposed to be an "all-in-one" type workstation. I haven't used it in many years though, how's the stability these days? There's always Rewire I guess. I think it works out for them at this point though, since it's pretty much the only software that doesn't support plugins... it's become kind of a niche.
in the three years i have used this program, it has never crashed, or lagged out on me.

Nice, seems to be working then. I have crashes every once in a while and it's always been traced back to a dodgy VST, usually some weird freeware. Sometimes Cubase won't even load until I completely delete the plugin too. Not had much problems with pro plugins though.

same I love the fact Reason doesn't have VST's it means you can actually make things on it which don't sound the same as the 38439494 people who load up massive and make the same sounds..

wouldn't go that far mate, amount of n00bs i hear using reason make sounds that i've heard a thousand times before.

you don't have to wire all your instruments into a mixer at the top of the rack, which saves cable clutter.
direct outputs on every mixer channel making rewire easier or for making a mix bus/group.
better meters
master bus compressor
unlimited channels
gain controls
phase invert

true, but with reason you have to learn your tools, so you avoid the problem of trying to fix difficulties in sound with new vsts. it encourages creativity IMO

Agreed, it encourages creativity and teaches you a hell of a lot about what different parts of synths do
and if a group of people use the same thing then you're bound to get a similar tone to it no matter what it is
one thing i am excited about in R6 is being able to just add my own audio and being able to cut it up myself, no more scrolling through the start and end points to get the sample right

Looks pretty boss but I wish they'd add a frequency analyzer! I know there's combinator patches out there for them but all the ones I have tried are pretty difficult to work with.

The new delay is exciting, the line delay is so limited.

You can make one with the BV512 Digital Vocoder I need to do some digging up on it aswell.

I find the vocoder workarounds to be only useful for gauging a general idea of what frequencies are hitting, and I can use my ears for that. I know there are a few combis floating around that have graphics that show you the what each band represents but I find those too cumbersome. nowadays I just use audiofile engineering's spectre (on mac) and it works brilliantly.
as for this announcement. well I'm glad that Propellerheads have realised their mistake and just integrated Record into Reason. should have happened from the start, instead of milking us suckers (ie people like me who bought Record) dry. I think Reason 6 has come around so fast because Record obviously bombed and they needed to work on their strengths (ie the Reason brand) fast.
the problem with Record was that the only people who bought it were Reason owners. what a fucking jib. all those guitar people who sing in their rooms and shit just get pro tools le or whatever free lite software that came with their soundcard. plus it was better that they unified the products now before the confusion caused by the separate products became worse.
to put it in perspective. people on the propellerhead forum are complaining that Record is now being discontinued and are bitching like they're losing something. trying to explain the difference between a product being discontinued and it simply being integrated into another product is impossible as the majority of the people on the propellerhead forums are idiots and/or raging fanboys.
I really love Reason. I love the design and aesthetic of the program (a self-contained environment that imposes limits on the user forcing them to be creative) but I just fucking hate the fanboys on their forum and the marketing department. seriously are they mocking themselves? I mean steinberg have some terrible ads but they're somehow less infuriating than the stuff that propellerheads puts out.
why the fuck is everybody so radical and awesome and annoying.
"I AM A REASON USER" like it's some sort of bold political statement. fuck off.

btw if you own reason you might be interested in this thread that's just going on

some people have been working on the concept of convolution reverb within reason for a while and this guy made a simple and interesting go at it. pretty fucking neato.

While it looks amazing and ridiculously powerful, R6 looks like what R5 shoulda been imo.
I'm glad they're taking the right direction though, with a faster update, and integrated recording.
Reason 6 is definately going to give the other DAW's a serious run for their money. It really is a powerful powerful program with all the built in effects and custom modular routing.
It's good to see a dedicated filter unit so we can avoid loading up thor to use a comb filter. Disappointed they didn't do a proper dedicated filter unit though, with separate notch and formant filters too.
In a way I've lost interest in Reason though. The last three versions have managed to fuck something up that should've been unfuckupable.... (GUI layouts)
R3aper ftw!

Haven't heard of it before, definitely going to check it out!
