It's going to split like Paris Hilton's legs. One side will get deep like Paris Hilton's tnuc, the other will get long like her nose.
See it's really all simple when you drag Hilton into the equation

with other music alot of Djs are still playing music from years ago, and on the long term music from 10-25 years ago.
Seems to be missing with dubstep

I personally highly rate seeing people hear dubstep for the first time and be completely amazed by it. Because of that, I'm well up for as many people as possible getting involved as possible.
In my own teeny tiny opinion, I think that there's way much worrying that the scene is going to suddenly break down, get "mersh" and be championed by Blue Peter or something.....Relax Winston. It ain't gonna happen any time soon.
However, saying that, I do understand the appeal of a secret and heavy musical scene that only you and a few special others are privy to.

Look, I don't want to sound argumentative here, but if we do figure out where garage went wrong, what would you actually propose to do about it? Impose some sort of schedule? "Sorry mate, you can't use female vocals until 2009. We don't want to go the way of garage, do we?"
No not argumentative at all, just tryin provoke a debate. Not sayin it should be boxed in and creativeness stifled, but i see a link between garage going/tryin to go mainstream and it losing some appeal.

A bit of discogsing suggests obscurities like Request Line, DMZ 003 - DMZ 005, Kingstown, 28g...

This
badboy mix opened my ears/eyes. Although I was already intrigued by what Vex'd was doing somewhat earlier, this was a real relevation. All the future classics seamlessly mixed Youngsta.
2005 was huge, 2007 is getting better and better though. No need to despair.

I'm getting a bit pissed off with some releases at the moment... 2004/5 nothing pissed me off at all, now I think there's perhaps slightly less quality control.. I'm getting mostly pissed off with a lot of the "melodies", really dodgy synth patches and the melodies themselves are pretty half baked. It's just like right i've spent 5 weeks on the bass, now I'll mash some notes over it in like 2 seconds. Doesn't really disguise the software used enough, doesn't sound natural. That said there is also a whole load more sick shit, just as much as last year, there's just some throwaway stuff accompanying it.
There's already a sort of split anyway tho isn't there? There's all the more techy drum'n'bass styled stuff and then there's the either more rootsy or just less distorted/harsh style (like DMZ)

think that things are rosy meself!
never been spending so much cash on vinyl as a whole, Dubstep for me is starting to get REALLY interesting, so many diffrent flavours all over the shop, and more producers bein consistent.
its all good down my end!

Joe Nice told me something once I found to be very intriguing.
"When the haters become lovers, watch out".
it's true.
