On that kind of tip, any Takeshi Kitano films are worth checking. Sonatine, Violent cop, Hana bi.

The Killer is the finest piece of cinema I've ever witnessed, get that first.
It's bloody melodrama at its finest

The Streetfighter trilogy with Sonny Chiba.
First one is hard as feck, second one is a shade lighter, third one had a Mexican shooting lasers from his belt wearing a sombrero which was gnarly.
The final shootout from A Better Tomorrow 2 - that was the tits.

Original Zatoichi series better than the Beat Takeshi remake (although the remake was pretty good).
Best old school kung fu film ever:
Crippled Avengers.
Also feeling the Iron Monkey and the Once Upon a Time in China series recommendations, but for pure action I think from the 1992-1995 kung fu boom the one with the best action is:
Scorpion King....no, not that shit one with The Rock

Any of those old ones with the dubbed voices that the wu tang clan (and everyone else) sampled, are the best. The dudes have got well funny voices, and half the time the dialogue makes no sense and is well broken up. The fighting is shit hot though

heh, agreed...I can't watch kung fu subtitled. I need the cheesy dub versions.
ironically, I'm just the opposite w/ anime.
I know I've mentioned these before, but Duel to the Death, and Shaolin vs. Lama are probably two of my favorites. Shaolin vs Wu-Tang is good for the samples, but it's kind of a weak movie overall.

For now I'll have to deal with the blurry original VHS transfer, oh well...

Manga Series???? I have not seen those. Sounds cool.
I have the original manga (comic books) where they took the stories from, and the newer translated reprints. Also I have about 60 hours worth of the japanese television series, which is good too.
