Quantum is up there with From Russia With Love...Bond being a tnuc as he should be. Stopped short of him hitting women like he does in FRWL though.

Just got back from seeing this and I was thoroughly entertained.
The baddie was the best baddie i've seen in a bond film, proper unhinged. Seemed legit.
Close up of Bond on the bike at the beginning was bait as fuck.
Komodo dragons were bait as fuck.
The fact that the three Chinese bodyguards didn't have an ounce of kung fu between them was bait as fuck.

Enjoyed the yin-yang aspect running throughout - Bond in black with white shirt/baddie in in light coloured suite with dark shirt, old ways vs the new, computer hacking vs field operations, traditional masculinity with a tear for M at the end vs camp computer warrior with a heart to murder.

The end fight scene was a bit too 'party political broadcast' for my liking but oh well. Was a bit 'Bond in austere times'. Grass roots (Bonds old yard), make do and mend type fight... dunno, seemed a little 'dam busters theme tune' to me.
The fact that they'd sold all the guns (useful shit) struck me as a undertone plot device.
The games keeper was, in my mind, a representation of the old British ways - stiff upper lip in adversity/civility b2b buck shots in ya balls.

lol at PC monypenny.

Also, that Turner that Bond and Q were looking at isn't in that room in the National Gallery. Just sayin.

All in all, would recommend! :4:

just watched it today

absolutely badboy Bond at its finest, loved the references to the old Bond, and the sly digs at Bourne, taking it back to OG spy shit, gun fights and SAS scottishness was sick

Bardem = best Bond baddie i've seen

Craig = best Bond

sad to see Dench go, Ralph Fiennes will do finely as a replacement for M

Q is a bit of a douchebag with the child prodigy angle but fuck it

also, the Bond women were AWESOME!! Naomie Harris was fantastic as Moneypenny, cheesy one-liners pushed it a bit tho

the other one was absolutely smoking too

It's a snapshot. Not as bad as some of the Brosnan shit...and TBH I can't even remember what Quantum/Casino Royale's songs were like?

Yeah, disposable.

Another Way To Die is slightly better, but only for Keys' piano and not for White's vocals.

Good call :D

I think there are probably a half dozen ones that are top drawer;

View To A Kill
Living Daylights
Goldfinger
etc

Big fan of From Russia With Love, but that's as much about me wishing I was a 60s Vegas lounge singer as much as anything else :oops:

The fight right at the end? Yeah, that is quality...the hi-tech equivalent of it in Moonraker is jokes though :lol:

surely it's not very rock and roll for jack white to be making a tune for a bond movie anyway?

thought this was the best bond film for a very long time, it was strong as a standalone film rather than just a bond film which was nice. I actually thought the stuff they did that broke with tradition (Q being about 12 etc) was nice, takes balls to do something like that with a franchise as ingrained in peoples minds like Bond. Even Daniel Craig was good, didnt enjoy the other two films with him at all, but he made Bond actually seem vulnerable and a person rather than a robot that kills people and shags birds.

Fleming's concept of Bond is a government licensed cunt in a Saville Row suit.
