Pray tell me how it is "utterly bizarre" that a producer should be entitled to receive money on something that is released and sold to the paying public?

There is an argument that they should be receiving PRS monies from the 'public performance' that constitutes the playing of their track in a club so I'm not sure what I'm saying is so unfeasible.

By the way, I'm not arguing for or against a CD pack of the club night (which, as was pointed out earlier in the thread, was tradition with old raves). I am simply arguing against your rants.

Anyway, I strongly believe that if we were to continue enforcing this manner of thought in no time at all software companies will start demanding a fee if you generate wobbly wobbles using their DAW's or whatever they're called... I don't know exactly how things work, but don't DJ's (I mean some that are not widely aknowledged) pay for their vinyls? Or do you mean that if it gets played in a public place artists are entitled to some remuneration? A bit hilarious and highly unlikely to become common practice.. And on the other side - you have those top'class DJ's that everybody hype to... So in my humble opinion to get your gutty tracks played - aka 'featured' on one of those DJ's set it's already a reward in itself - and you may view it like some sort of a marketing scheme ... In the end everybody wins... So I don't understand why wouldn't something like what I said earlier work?

from what i gather

technically a club has to have a PRS licesnse (prs = performing rights society) which enables them to have the music publically performed in their venue

then DJs are meant to submit tracklists with what they play at the club to the PRS, then royalties get distributed accordingly to artists who are signed up to the prs

in theory obviously...

Any ideas when it might be out?
