Flex-pitch = yup

Cons:-
No upgrade price :/
No support for 32bit plugins (not everyone has switched to 64 bit yet!)
Not feeling the look
No mention of multi-core support being enhanced, does that mean my quad-core would be just as useless with this as with 9 (not making use of all cores available etc)

Overall I'm thinking meh but maybe it has potential, might try it out at some point but I can't see me leaving 9 for it in any hurry.
Exactly what i'm thinking bro.

My thoughts are that you've savaged the English language.

Looks like they've been having a play with Reaper by the look of those track stacks. ;-)
Something else they should have borrowed is x32 wrappers. Reaper 64 opens 32 bit plugs just as easily as 64 bit ones.

I actually kind of like the layout but not the individual graphical elements.

The drummer thing seems kind of funny. It'll either be kind of useful or a complete joke.

It's cool that they're trying to add some stock plugins that would otherwise be 3rd party like the drummer and guitar/bass effects. Logic has always shined with their built in stuff. I wonder how the organ sounds.

When things slow down in the fall, i might (might) consider upgrading, but i've got no time for the guaranteed hiccups of an upgrade right now.

plus i've got a lot of 32-bit plugs that i'm not looking to let go of.
Same as me mate, i've got loads off 32-bit plugs that i need!

feeling the color scheme but not the garageband-ish look.........can anybody tell me how the smart controls work?? i checked out some vids but nothing has demonstrated how you can assign different parameters from different 3rd party plugs to the same knobs for streamlined tweaking like ableton's or massive's macros...... really psyched for that if it work the way i think it should

Couldn't wait till the weekend or till i read about bugs haha!So i have spent a few hours and must say i think it is a very good update. So far it seems a whole lot snappier than 9 and i haven't run into any of the graphic/freeze bugs i was experiencing in 9 since moving to mountain lion. Also so far all 3rd party plugs seem to be behaving really well.If i find anything that isn't quite working i will post in here to see if others are experiencing the same.
Must say i'm just blown away you finally have an arpeggiator without having to dive into to the environment.
Little bit weird at first navigating the gui but i think it is a marked improvement and everything seems simply laid out enough.I'm just really impressed with how responsive it seems to be,gutted i can't use it on my laptop though because of being mountain 10.8.4 and up.Can still work with stems though so no biggy!
My opinion well worth shelling out on for all the logic heads

is $199 a like starter price or something for a limited time? That seems cheap in comparison to others?

it doesn't come with the jam packs.

I'm really eh on this one. I almost prefer logic 9.

Pros:
Pitch flex
FM synthesizer and WT synthesizer
Interesting new plugins
Quicker reaction time

Cons:
The layout is frustratingly different from logic 9
The upgrade feels like I'm switching DAWs entirely
The mixer board is childlike and obnoxious
The workflow has not improved whatsoever
The CPU load of the heavier/nicer plugins has not been reduced (or so little that I can't even notice it)

Eh. This is a really underwhelming advancement.

This is sick.

Pros:
-Love the gui and little things like the gain reduction meter on the mixer
-Track stacks
-A good arp and MIDI fx is great, I've wanted this since I got logic (didn't like the old arp)
-DRUMMER and drum kit designer seems very useful, hoping it can compete with things like Ezdrummer/superior
-FM + Wavetable synth
-Flex Pitch

iPad remotecontrol thing seems cool, too.
Also It's a good sign, now it won't get abandoned and hopefully they will make updates/new versions more frequently.
Buying this when I can afford it, sucks theres no upgrade price. :(

This might seem like a silly question but do you have to re install all your 3rd party plug ins/software or does it transfer everything over for you?

Would be a long having to reinstall everything! komplete 9 takes about a day on its own!

Since your au plugins and such are in a special folder in your Library, they will be detected instantly by Logic X and other daw's too - you don't have to install the plugins one time for every new (version of a) DAW. :corndance:

it kind of does, 35gb of content included with X (Apple loops mainly, though they're not called jam packs these days)

I just installed it earlier today and you do get all the Jam Packs, Garageband instruments, Extra reverbs etc. After you've installed it, it brings you to a screen where you can tick what you want to download extra, i think the whole lot is as you said 35gb.

Does anyone know how to preview samples in the browser like in logic 9?

once you had clicked inside the browser window you could press spacebar to hear the preview of the sample but now, most times i have to click the little speaker button at the bottom because spacebar plays the whole track!

piss take

Little speaker button in the bottom corner.Space bar isn't working for me no more too.Maybe you need to set it up in key commands menu
