Andy Weatherall at Cream 1994

http://www.sendspace.com/file/m64q12

Maybe not many takers here but this was from a scene that ran parallel to Rave/Jungle. Weatherall is/was a Don. Got links to his mixes from 1988 thru to 2007. This one and his Radio 1 essential mixes I have been battering when I want something, er, less wobbly :)

Fanu's mixes. Hard to pick one, they're all heavy. They also provide an answer to the 'is there still any decent dnb around' question.

I guess for most this mix isn't a novelty. Afterall it's hardly an obscure mix, rather an obvious one, but when I first heard it last year I listened days to this mix:

Ricardo Villalobos - Fabric 7th birthday 10-21-06

part 1 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BNLSLO60
part 2 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FTXK4CE1

For me at least, it was the first time I heard (a bit of) dubstep and techno in one set, sitting comfortably next to each other.

^^ A very good mix that is.

Im gonna suggest everyone listens to the Nathan Fake & James Holden Essential Mix. Electronic music at it's finest. Brilliant from start to finish, would love to see these two live. Ive been playing it for a couple of weeks now and it's most definately up there with the best Essential Mixes of all time. A mean feat when you consider how long these mix sessions have been going for.

Nice one for that, looks good.

I'd also suggest checking out the Future Sound Of London essential mix from about '92, tis one of my favourites. I'll find a link for it somewhere and stick it up here.

Also, nice one for that Carl Craig mix, its wicked. As i had hitherto suspected, there is a lot of good stuff by him that I haven't/hadn't heard

Another fine Essential Mix. I have a 12 hour set of theirs somewhere. Still not managed to get through it all, they must have had a team of Umper Lumpers to carry all the records.

my contribution will have to be DJ VLR's Squarepusher tribute mix, "His Fucking Sound". VLR's mixes cover a variety of styles including but not limited to idm, electro (that doesn't suck), dubstep and so forth.

This week ive been listening to alot of Cumbia. Traditional music from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Paraguay.
Its had a bit of a resurgence in recent years due to the popularuty of Reggaeton in south america. Has alot of similarity to Reggaeton but rather than using the same Dem Bow beat for every song it has varied percussion style. Cumbia dances are a sight for sore eyes. I went to loads in Argentina and trust the amount of stunning females dancing like snakes in hotpants is quite astounding.
Diplo has done a good mix here
http://web.mac.com/diplo1978/iWeb/mad%2 ... FC643.html

Im trying to find more but my spanish skills are getting worse by the day.

It's cheesey but in a good way, just imagine those hotpants :D

Some quality mixes in here. I will add my part posting some sets from possibly the most amazing dj i know, Drexciyan Dj Stingray:

Image

DJ Stingray 313 - Stereotype Mix

Drexciyan Dj Stingray @ ATP 2003

DJ Stingray @ Bootleg DJ Cafe, Rotterdam

The one from ATP is specially interesting, probably the mix I listened to the most in years.

No tracklists, but expect mutant electro mixed with Detroit classics, Basic Channel on 45rpm mixed with 90's Warp-ish stuff, etc

Sick!

here's an ambientish one I've been digging for a while called "A drift on the signal"

http://www.mediafire.com/?3zwcokd7dxf

here's the blurb the guy who did it wrote

"A few years ago I became fascinated by the release of The Conet Project, recordings of the famous short-wave "numbers" stations, rumored to be operated by various covert intelligence operations. These stations transmit in different languages, employing male and female voices repeating strings of numbers or phonetic letters day and night, all year round. The recordings a very spooky.

I've used these recordings in a few mixes & was always interested in exploring other shortwave recordings. Then a few months ago I came across the SHORTWAVEMUSIC blog. Run by Myke Weiskopf, the blog is dedicated to music and/or musical noise intercepted via shortwave radio. These musical recordings feature a bit of noise, hum, drift & interference. But that's exactly what makes them so haunting. The washes of static mix wonderfully with a Sudanese oud player or Qu'ran chants or post-Soviet melancholia.

I highly recommend heading over to Myke's blog and taking some time to browse through his amazing collection of 'shortwave music'. Two of my favorite posts are "the Dream"(6th from the bottom) and Post-Soviet Melancholia, Part IV(about halfway down, July 29th 2005).

I used quite a few clips from the Shortwavemusic blog in this new mix. The rest of the music is just some stuff I came across that I thought would work well with the shortwave feel. I just had to use Basinski's "The River" as it was constructed from shortwave recordings. I figured this mix was probably my only chance to use The Bulgarian Women's Choir singing one of my favorite choral pieces. I think it fits perfectly.

The start & stop times for the tracks may be a little confusing. That's because of the fluid nature of this mix. Multiple tracks fading in & out at various times. I like the mix & hope you do too. Thanks again to Myke Weiskopf for all the great shortwave recordings. "
