- listen to old music you loved back when you didn't produce. be inspired from the emotions you feel from that music & pluck out the different sounds you hear. what elements of that track really suits your style? how can you incorporate that into your sound?
- found a sample/sound you like? loop it for half a track (2/3mins) and add a simple beat. write your tune live! add to it as you go along and as you see fit.
- jam more. get a simple 16 bar beat going, load up a synth and hit record. you're bound to find inspiration in the music itself. think of what you have (vsts/midi keyboards etc) as instruments. that's what they essentially are and should be treated as such!
- find some more samples. freesound.org is one of the best sources for inspiration, purely because of how quick it is to find something you haven't heard before + they're royalty free
- get some hardware (seriously)
these points really helped me out of a recent writers block. hope you get back into production real soon.
