I there is nothing by the weekend, i'll probably set up something myself.

It would probably be best to have upload accounts limited in some way, so that random spammers can't use it. I was thinking maybe a system whereby you pm someone for an account? would this be too much of a pain for everyone?

So, i started writing the website for this. Already got a good bit of it down, and I should have something up before the end of the week.

Oh, and it shouldn't involve pming anyone for an account!

I'm already on the ball dude, my site should be launched sometime over the summer, think Yahoo Music but allows you to upload your own tracks. It's also a free service.

Sounds like quite a bit thing. I'm just writing something small and simple, designed around the needs of just the Dubstep Forum users.

sorry for the lack of response, couldn't find a host that was feasible, bleeding money on a few other projects so this is def. taking the back burner right now...unfortunately most hosts have a cap on the size limit unless you get a dedicated host or work something out in the coding.

so yeah, simian, lemme know if you need any help.

P.m. here is best as it takes me a few to check back in.

Suggestion would be to let people host their own stuff and link to it, this way you aren't bearing the brunt of the bandwidth hit, the participants are sharing it.

A techno forum I frequent ( mnml.nl ) has a netlabels section where people post free releases. They are always 320 and there is seriously a lot of quality stuff if your into minimal techno. It's just a bunch of heads from around the world that are into the sound.

It's pretty cool. Even if you aren't into techno you might check out what they've got going on in the net label section and use it as a model to build on. I suppose there would have to be an existing community or artists wanting to set up netlabels or something and share tracks first, but I dunno, thought it was worth mentioning.

peace

The problem is most people don't have their own hosting, and end up using crappy places where the links expire after so many downloads, or so many months.

I've got plenty of space and bandwidth going unused, so I'm happy to give it away.

Looks quite similar to our Dubs section, but maybe more mature. The thing I'm building shouldn't distract from the dubs forum, it's just a place to host stuff, with a few extra bits for watching how many times your track has been downloaded, controlling who can get/see it, etc etc. There will also be crap for putting in a few details about yourself and your tracks, but really i think the focus should be kept on the forums.

Spartan has kindly pointed freedubs.org at my nameservers, so there should pretty definitely be something up by the end of the week now!

Safe! Looking forward to it :)

Right now, I'm looking for someone to do some webdesign. I'm pretty good at the whole backend/server side of things, but my graphical design skills/CSS aren't as hot as I'd like. I'd got a simple little design going at the moment, which looks ok and I'm prepared to use if nobody else is interested in doing the design, but having something else would be nice.

I'm a poor student and this is a community project so I can't afford to pay anyone, but I'd be happy to give you a little 'design by...' at the bottom of every page.

If anyone is interested, drop me a PM.

Oh, and it doesn't need to be anything too complex. Just a basic page layout, colour scheme, logo, etc. Should only be a few hours work, if you know what you're doing.

This is still happening, just had to take a little break for revision.

I'll be giving out 4-5 accounts within the next few days, so that i can get a little feedback and make sure it all works ok. Then i'll probably open it to everyone a few days later.
