Shake Out Your Demons...
Not sure its quite enough on its own to warrant 'Best Producer' tho

I'm sick of Mala winning all the awards. Sure he's a great producer but more producers should be in the light and more releases should be.

Have the awards and the event, just not in Herbal and no stupid forum related gimmicks.

no offence to boomy and organisers but - this. can't stand the bullyboy bouncers and soundsystem that isn't up to task, if you were gonna have it in london again somewhere like corsica studios would be ideal, large enough, 2 rooms, large smoking area, nice funktion 1 system

Yep go for it, I like the idea of an awards its just a celebration of the music and it will be a luagh.

Hand out some mad props play some tunes.

do it! do it now!

the top, say 3 DJ's selected by the forum and top, again say 3, producers should go to the awards ceremony and perform... the top DJ's should battle it out on the night and be decided by the crowds reaction....same for top producer, they should be told a week in advance and have to create a track especially fot the event and again, it goes to the crowd reaction/vote on the night..... entertaining night and pretty fair cos not everyone has heard all the DJ sets by DJ X or seen them preform live if they are from some far off place.... just a thought... dismiss it at will.

phobic you think they'd be able to make a really stellar, ready to play out track in a week? thats a fairly tall order when they have to make time for that around gigs etc.

if they are truely worthy of producer of the year...anything is possible!!! heard Benga makes a b-line in 30mins!!! y not?

BUT...it was just a suggestion....

be realistic though man, making a bassline in 30 minutes is indeed impressive, but thats only one part of the tune and it doesn't mean that every producer's able to do that innit?

course not..... BUT IT WAS A SUGGESTION!!! some idea to throw out that could be thought about as a different way to approach an awards system and a different way to appeal to people/draw in some punters to an event....

whats to stop the producer from having 2 weeks...a month...whatever...the concept is more important than the time period I suggested dont u think?

Maybe not an awards thing as such?

How about some sort of recognition of newcomers that have made a good impact on the scene ?

Lets face it, we all know that Mala, Skream, Benga, Distance and everyone else that is huge, it well, huge.
How about giving some huge high fives to some of the new guys ?

Just a thought.

There's hundreds and hundreds of newcomers these days. We have a newcomer category for just that reason. More established names still deserve recognition as there would be no way we could say that one name is established, and another isn't. The community has to decide those things.

Thanks for that point, and its a very good one. We'll be discussing ways to approach the nomination round differently.

More producers should try being as good as Mala, then. :P That way everyone wins.

I say go for it. It's a nice bit of recognition / appreciation for the winners, the people who don't win probably aren't going to lose much sleep over it since it's only a forum poll, and last year's awards party ('ceremony' is probably the wrong word...) was fab.

Yes.
And the awards should be different. Nominate a panel of judges?
I know that wouldn't really work, but still.

Have a category for unsigned producers.
