it's saddening to hear one of the very few places that is keeping vinyl rolling is considering this. no dis, it just sucks that things are that way.

if so many people are getting out of/downgrading their production of vinyl im sure there must be some presses/lathes going cheap

those who care should go buy them... those who dont shouldnt have to put up with the complaints and whinging

I actually inquired about your pricing for my digi label and was surprised that you didn't offer this already. I can't justify paying for the vinyl mastering when I am only selling digi. Your price may still be too steep for me but if it is in range I would consider it for sure.

definitely would use this service if reasonably priced.. how would the service differ from standard CD mastering?

haha. sorry i just realised i sounded very snarky when i reread what i wrote

its just that people seem complain about so many vinyl labels shutting down etc. but they dont realise that the business' are shutting their doors for very sound economic reasons...

why is this sad that we could have the transition magic done for those who aren't rich enough (or close enough) or don't want to press dubplates?

if it means better sounding digi files, i am all for it!

not to mention if it means that transition can keep their doors open for doing dubplates and vinyl mastering by supplementing their income AND making more tunes sound good, this is pure win/win.

No it was from a heated Vinyl VS Cd thread, Competition is good because it keeps people on their toes and does not leave any room for arrogance

We are not downgrading or selling equipment, just trying to be the best.

I think there has been a misunderstanding because we offer three basic services, Vinyl mastering, Cd Mastering (Which covers all digital storage mediums) and Dub plates. All of these services are priced accordingly.
A CD master is priced cheaper than a vinyl master.
What I am considering is a digital version of a dub plate.

I get sent a lot of mp3's for my show and some are of awful quality ..

WAV is requested so I can 'wavegain' the track and encode it to lame 3.97 V0


I personally think its a great idea, quality mastered mp3's. Be good for the US peeps on the dubstep board whose dubplates seem to cost quite a bit.

So digital dubplates would mean 'through the chain at relatively neutral/flat settings'? Sorry to labour the point

What sort of price point would this be at do you think?

If the price was right I'd be all over this. I actually think it would help a lot of people with their mixdowns too, as they'd have a solid idea of what has been done to their file. I'd probably rather a .wav though.

Yeah, I thought it was just kinda online mastering service that was being offered, but if we just sent the wavs, run them through the set up and back as wav/320 that would be pretty sweet also, and cheaper I guess?

Dubplates are tweeked as needed the diference between a dub and a master is that it (Master)has to be the best it can be and as such generally takes longer to nail than a dubplate hence the diferent price.
I am not realy sure about a price for this new service yet i am just interested to see if there is a demand.

Transition aren't going to offer exactly the same full CD/digital mastering service at a much lower price, it wouldn't make sense. It's a quick basic job, to put it crudely (hopefully not rudely).

Well I would definately use this service.
