As your store has a good track record, it should have a decent chance of surviving even if someone else ends up taking over the chain (or part of it). I can't see anyone consider closing down or choosing not to snap up a London area store to be honest. Hope it works out for you!

wouldn't bother going if you're thinking of it, unless you haven't been in the last week. they've not lowered their prices any more & there's no sale on.

'apparently'?
this is not true of any stores in the southern region....
none of you actually know anything and the company is not set to go bust for definite....we took 100,000 in 1 day which is a first for the croydon store...we personally are doing well....these kinds of discussions involving hearsay and unqualified information does a lot of harm and could prevent a buyer from stepping in....
i am a manager in the croydon store and should i lose this job and not be able to find another i will have to stop doing my events...therefore less money going into dubstep...
i do find peoples attitude remarkable to others misfortune within the economic downturn....we're all fucked including you unless your job completely cocoons you from the economy...
merry xmas everyone
no one is happy to hear of any workers loosing their jobs and I wouldnt want you to have to stop your night, but its hard not to laugh a little when you hear these big companies are going bust. if capitalism consumes itself and crashes, I for one wont shed a tear.

so you're not a capitalist?
if our economy becomes much more fucked then we all will be!
if you would be happy to share earnings with others less able than you to do something you are good at then i guess you're not a capitalist!

Not exactly any groundbreaking bargains in Bristol.

But your problem is not one of not enough sales but Zavvi cannot cannot get supply of product and have had to change their trade agreements, affecting their cash flow. So although you're doing a great job on the floor it's the backroom where things have gone tits up.
And i wouldn't take it personally that everyone is jumping on the possibility of Zavvi going under and clearing all their stock cheap as chips, everyone is sick of greatly inflated prices that British people have succummed to and so the chance of something cheaper will be leapt on. I hope you do keep your job but if you don't then you have to blame retail culture.

no doubt the debts are racking up as they have been for some time...ive been with the company for eight years now and i need to leave anyway...
the sale actually in place was in place before the administration came into effect and was set even before the collapse of euk....
i dont begrudge bargain hunters at all but it is a bit like the vultures picking at the carcass...its a really tough time being there at the moment and were just waiting to hear this week rly...
3400 losing their jobs is sad and i know so many of them as well...

Been back in Bristol and the Zavvis barely seem to sell CDs anymore. Fucking awful selection, no wonder they've gone under!

Yeah, no offense to those that work there obviously... I reckon it's going to be difficult for record shops of any type (apart from increasingly geeky vinyl shops for DJs) to survive against people like Amazon or whoever and I'm a sucker for 3 for £10 DVDs, so the lack of CDs only really bugs me when I'm in emergency need of tunes because I'm stuck visiting my parents, forgot to bring any CDs and was just forced to listen to Basshunter - Jingle Bells by some fuck on Radio One.
