i'd much rather use soundcloud but it doesnt have as large a community or as many customization options

myspace is crap, but its the best way of getting your tracks heard. i prefer it to facebook which is absolute guff.

But hold up folks, I've wondered this:

Does it still have the same effect. About 4 or 5 years ago there was surely a smaller number of bands on myspace as there are today. Meaning, the average myspace user (not a band) would be more responsive to all the band requests and spamming comments. But I look at any list of comments on myspace and I'm guaranteed to see at least 5 messages like "New single in player", "Album available for download", or anything of that sort. So I'm under the impression that unless the music is completely mind-blowing, most people are unresponsive to bands trying to promote on myspace.

Or is it the fact that by all means, if your music isnt 100% garbage...you WILL have a small fanbase/somebody will actually search music and stumble upon you? Personally, I keep faith in this aspect of myspace. Randoms can discover you. I wonder how successful one could be without very actively and blatantly searching friends and just existing more on the humble...

Myspace is great! Such an easy way to get your music heard, and to target a specific audience.

I get about between 1 and 10 add requests a day depending on how active I am on this forum. I used to spam comments, but that takes fucking ages and I can't be arsed to do that until I have something worthwhile to promote again. Spamming works wonders

I havent made a dubstep myspace but ya, im all on soundcloud cause its way easy. Myspace demands so much attention (when first making it) which blows dick hole

but again it is EXTREMELY helpful

the phenomenons,that are social networks are pretty usefull and myspace is pretty handy just litterally giving somone a url and saying listen.but in order to get plays and keep it running gotta add a lot of people.in which i don't have the patients to do....
