yeah i remember when the grime lp came out i really didn't expect something so raw to come out of rephlex. when i first heard industrial graft, the music, camel ride, i couldn't really decide whether it was dark and industrial or funky and danceable... can't really go back to the time when this particular sound was completely new and unexpected...seckle wrote:this show was at a time in the sound where you couldn't describe what you were hearing. thats why its so important. absolutely seminal time.
the grime albums really put a giant spotlight on the sound. thousands of people caught on from those albums.chris deon wrote:yeah i remember when the grime lp came out i really didn't expect something so raw to come out of rephlex. when i first heard industrial graft, the music, camel ride, i couldn't really decide whether it was dark and industrial or funky and danceable... can't really go back to the time when this particular sound was completely new and unexpected...seckle wrote:this show was at a time in the sound where you couldn't describe what you were hearing. thats why its so important. absolutely seminal time.

Some of the texts were published again at Riddim.ca... But the mixes... Only three or two are at the Mixes section I think... Kode posted them some time ago... I'd love to have these Rephlex mixes here too...

these are the sets which got me hooked to dubstep back in the day, don't know how many times I listened to them, but I just might put them on the ipod once again.
