My stupid question:
Is it possible to route all the audio playing on my mac (NOT IN CUBASE) into an audio channel? I want to record some samples from a movie I'm watching, audacity doesn't have the option to record all audio either???
Would help a lot, thanks.
Cheers

there are a few different VST folders when you install Cubase
if you are on a PC install the software in the Steinberg/Cubase/VST folder
you might be pointing the install to Steinberg/VST which might not be getting scanned upon startup of the software

I tried to recreate your problem but I can't!
My Cubase doesn't allow me to minimize the Velocity window further.
What version do you use?
Oh if you clicked on the minus icon then simply click on the arrow on the bottom left and select 'Velocity Only'

Have you seen the videos about Cubase 6 on their website?
Quite interesting stuff indeed!
Working with automation will become so much easier!

im sure some of you are on cubase 6 by now; can anyone tell me if its substantially better than 5?
also, i am a cubase n00b, been on a reason/ableton setup so far but ableton kinda pisses me off lol, dont really like its layout... i was wondering if I could get any valuable keyboard shortcuts for cubase since i heard there were loads of them

File menu >>> Key commands
You can see all the shortcuts already set up and assign your own.

Anyone know of any good ways to edit a voice sample? I need to stretch the ending of it slightly, as well as many other things, otherwise it sounds stupid.

Resurrecting this one a bit.
I'd like to know how I can EQ/Compress individual drum sounds when I have them mapped to pads in Groove Agent one.
I'd also like to know how to import a whole sample pack - i.e a big 808 drum kit.
I'd also like to know why this thread seems to be so dead, Cubase is sick!

How do you send whole output from a VSTi to a group channel? So the VSTi don't sound anything?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4VxEZrG ... plpp_video This vid helped me a lot, but ill write it out for you still though.
so when you go into cubase (im using 5) you want to bring up the vst instrument window by pressing f11
or going to the device tab and click devices. It will open a small box where you load the vst and activate the
outputs, click where it says no instrument a choose your GroveAgent one, cubase will ask if you want to create a midi track choose yes( you can actually activate the outputs at this point by clicking the little arrow or continue reading)
Next load your samples into the GA one, after you have done that click on a sample pad on the vst (lets say your kicks on C1) select that pad and in the editing section(play/voice/filter/amplifier) go to the voice parameter and you will see it has the 6 knobs, the last one on the right the output is what your looking for set it to st1 (all the pads are sent out to Stereo 1 by default), but before choosing your out go back to the vst instrument box and click on the little arrow beside GA one that says activate outputs and activate the amount of outs you want created. You will notice on the mixer that a new channel has been added called GAOne 1 that is the track for your kick and if you go to the snare pad and do the same thing but set the output to St2, your kick and snare should now be on their own channels so you can effect them as desired.
I hope this helps and is not too jumbled for ya man.
Regarding the loading of a whole kit at once I have not figured that out yet, i just drag and drop them in one by one

but i also use Battery sometimes which is a bit easier as it has its own browser.

Okay so say you have your drums programmed into battery, in the arrange page or on the mixer add a group channel and call it drums. Next on the mixer
at the top where you select your outputs change it from stereo out to group 1 or drums as we called it earlier, now you will be able to control the overall volume and effect your whole drum pattern with the group channel slider as well as have control on the single hits too. Hope this helps!

Do you mean the mixer? If you want to move the mixer or any vst's you open in cubase to your secondary monitor, you must right click at the top of the said window and you will get an option that says 'always on top' select it and you will now be able to drag the mixer to your second monitor instead of stretching the arrange page out. Hope this helps you.
