When I load in a sample sometimes the pitch is completely different than the original sample after just loading it in, some samples are fine though.. and sometimes also the pitch changes when I close cubase and restart the same project.. and time stretches don't save either sometimes or just randomly seem to change after opening up the project, anyone have any idea?

As far as the pitch, you have to check that the sample rate is the same as the project rate, plus when you import it initially you can select to convert to project rate.

Thanks for the advice but I know about that button, this doesnt really work when I save the project, close cubase and reopen it and the X is still clicked, yet the pitch has changed slightly and my reverses are like 1cm to the left of where they originally were and time stretches are differently stretched (not unstretched just a little bit off)

Will check about what you said Bringer thanks

Whenever I open up the piano roll and play some notes, after I've placed them how I want I normally try to add some other notes on top, If I'm using groove agent one for example.

Whenever I click another sound to audition it, one of the notes will randomly move to that note... so I have to keep manually putting back my notes where they were - so infuriating! How to change this?

Bump! Does anyone freaking use Cubase?

Also, just wondered what people do with their drums? Groove agent one all the way or some other process? Keen to know - thanks.

i use cubase
used groove agent a bit time to time if i'm say playing something live to record like hip hop (hell it's like an mpc in layout)
otherwise i just use audio clips (tracks)
here's a pic of drums in an almost finished tune

Wow... that looks quite... sticky?

I mean, you've got all those drums so squashed in, how can you navigate? Zoom in alot? What are the benefits of doing this instead of groove agent one? Maybe I'm too used to a step sequencer. It's the same thing in Logic isn't it? All the instruments just go in an audio track or am I wrong?

yea same concept and zooming is easy in cubase, that screenshot you're looking at 148 bars, so it would seem squished
the benefits are i can individually edit any single drum hit rather than make a new channel for an instance, control the individual dynamic level of each bit, the processing etc

Ok, thanks.

I'm trying to do drums without the agent now but it's taking forever having to copy and paste them and put them all in the exact right place because when snap is on it won't let me put them on the right bar.

Am I doing something wrong?

perej - creating parts for percussion can be very handy.
Group a 16 bar section as a part and duplicate.

You can change the value that the bar snaps to, in the top left change the menu to "use quantise" and change the value to 1/16 1/32 or whatever you want.

How do I change the pitch of my drum hits? Say I've got a 4x4 kick / hat kinda thing but then I want to transpose them how do I do this?

isn't it just a right click function?

Doesnt seem so. Do you mean as in I should only have to click on the sample and it gives me an option to change its pitch or what?

Yeh, I remember it that way.
Or just double click and open the file in the media browser and I remember there being a transpose drop down box.

Ah found it, think I may have to map it to right click or something for the future tho, cheers!

I have a question.
Where does one put all their samples? E.g. I have one big folder with all my drum samples and other sample packs, do I put them in the media bay, loop browser or sound browser?
And once i know where to put them, how do i put them there?

Also, what is the best way to program your drums? Arranging in on the sequencer as audio looks like a good way to go as you can process each individual hit. Can you do that but by using midi instead?

Thank yo!
