Need more crit on this cos didn't get much before and i'm well stuck on it;
Soundcloud
@Psythe - I'm really liking your drums here but the bassline feels very lacking to me. I dunno, maybe once you've layered it up and eq'd it and everything it will sound fatter but for me I think the problem with it is more the notes and the wobbles than anything else...I would say keep at it with this tune, there is potential there but it depends how hard your willing to work on it XD If it was me I would maybe keep the midi for the bassline but delete the synths and automation it's on then try building some different sounds, maybe break it up into individual hits and jumble them about a bit?
@sixthsense - the bass feels like its lacking in the high end, maybe need another layer on top? also it's still a little sparse, maybe throw some chords or something in there? I like your little breakdown section and the very end bit is cool.

@ BigFatMonkey
Like the intro, very atmospheric. I would focus on beefing up the kick/snare. If you've not already, layer 2-3 kicks and eq it, same with the snare. Overall, good effort man.

This is one of my pet hates, layering snares is useful but kicks 8/10 times are gonna be fine on their own and if you need more than 2 kicks layered you either need new samples or need to learn how to eq better.

@paravrais Really solid, I like the arpeggiated bits a lot, especially that glockenspiel kinda sound. Really nice and light. I'm a bit bored of wobble bass personally!
One of mine...I definitely need to mix this down again with more air but I'd appreciate any feedback/suggestions:

cheers for the feedback but I think you listened to the wrong tune of mine XD the one in my sig isn't the one I was hopin to get crit on I posted it a bit higher up, I might be wrong except theres no wobble bass or arps in the tune I posted and there are in my sig lol...that said you probably won't like the tune I posted higher up as it's grizzly mid range stuff and based on ur comments/sound of ur tune I guess your not into that..as for being bored of wobble, I think it's easy to get bored of *certain* wobbles but can't see how anyone can be bored of it full stop as theres so much more that can be done with it people havn't explored yet. It's like saying "i'm bored of pianos in jazz" or "im bored of guitars in rock"

but yeah, thats a debate not for this thread
As for your track, I really really like it!! The vibes are excellent, the mixdown is pretty good and it's real different from a lot of stuff you get these days. Many props, one massive problem I have with it though, the intro is real fucking long dude...like...reeeeaaaal long

If you start the tune from about a minute in it would feel more balanced I think, I guess you were going for some sort of epic buildup but it's just too long with not enough happening for it to work. Aside from that REALLY great tune though. Might even play it again which is rare for me listening to peoples tunes on here!

@weedkeepa thanks! Those are original vocals not samples
I'm going to give them a little bit of processing and call that tune done.
your tune is good, gotta listen to it on monitors at home and not the comp speakers at the office
cheers!

Fair enough, just my opinion. This is just how i tend to go about it. By rummaging through the production bible and watching numerous production vids, i know a lot of other people do too.

Appreciate you taking the time out to listen to mine aswell, especially in work! Thanks man

yeah man, he's an old friend named MC Zulu. we have done about 10 shows together but never a tune.
I only use original vocals, no samples.. I was kinda in the alt hiphop game for about 10 years so I have a pool of mc's to choose from.
if you like that you should check out some of my older stuff, I can PM you links later on if you are interested

Wow that sounds ace, your a lucky guy. I'd love to have a list of MC's at my fingertips to choose from, hense why i have to make do with samples. Really gives the track character doesnt it. That is definately why your track stood out to me.
I'd love to check out some of your older stuff mate, send the links this way!

@Weedkeepa. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Will definitely have a look at the kick and snare. I haven't done any mixing down yet so hopefully they will stand out in the mix more once that's done.
@Paravrais. I'd be interested to know what you thought of my track. The link is on page 17. Will return the favour.

@Kontrol. Nice work. Love the intro on both tracks. I think there should be a smoother transition out of the intro the intro on shes twisted. Like the bit of vocal you've cut in just after the larger breakdown near the middle, more of that please

. Vexd shent remix is my favourite of the two, perhaps a couple more oscillators on the wobble to give it a bit more depth.

sixth sense - intro is quality love that bass is nice proper head nodder. gunna be conrivsersial here and might get flamed but i could imagine this more on a grime set than a dubstep set?? not saying its not dubstep cos obviously it is but this with say killa p riding it......... woooiiii nice stuff (dont take the grime comment the wrong way its a compliment) Id boost the mid range of the bass a bit and maybe add a sick metalic synth chord in but totally up 2 u where you think the track is going will look out for the finsihed version
paravrais = again nice intro...... that bass is lovely got a screw face when that dropped. the breaks are nicely thought out infact so far all of it is. automation 2.20 onwards>>>>> noice!!
jaydot - drumstep>> feeling it at the mo so was nice to listen to ur track. bass is nice and them drums of course are sick at the mo. id give the snare a touch of reverb and maybe add something nasty every 4 bars just a bar long gritty bass sample..... all in all brilliant
here's mine
Soundcloud
im gunna add a synth to this at some point and maybe a vox sample here and there. main crit i would like is on the melody. im having problems with insporation and theory of the dubstep melodies so will need to read in to this at some point

Well since you asked XD I'm likin your tune quite a bit, musically it's pretty sweet but some of the sounds/mixdown could be worked on still. Feels like the high end gets a bit swamped at places and the mid growl gets a bit lost in the background. Like the first drop section the best cos there's more space for everything to breathe. Overall decent track but work still needs to be done
My track is now the one in my sig as well to save confusion.
