@Kontrol Loving the tension in the track She's Twisted. Like bigfatmonkey said though there's no transistion between the percussion dropping and the intro but maybe you went for that effect. Loivng the bongos!

It might help if you left some feedback yourself? I didn't actually see your track so dunno if you did or not but people tend to get ignored if they don't participate properly. Either way happy to trade crit for crit man.

Geeza I can't switch my speakers on at this time of night or no doubt i'll have the police knocking at my door but i'll give your tune a listen tommorow!

@Geeza, i liked the percussion. the water drop sound & the cracking whip were cool. the synth that comes in at 14 seconds into the track is kinda weak. im not sure how else to describe it. the wobble bass later on is dope.

@bigfatmonkey, really nice track. nothing i really didnt like about it. the constant vocals that sound like they're saying "i'll be" could be switched up some more with chopping it up at a few more spots.

@kontrol, the waspy sounding synth is kind of abrasive & gets annoying. the ethnic perc is nice though.

here is my track; a work in progress. i usually make rap/hiphop instrumentals so this is kind of still foreign to me.

haha safe, yeah i did leave some feedback on a couple others, it was a few page backs though !

i had a listen to your song, proper feeling it, its got a nice dubby vibe to it, got some proper catchy basslines going on, i really like the weird ambient sound you have going on
about 3 mins ish, good work man !

@paravrais Yeah, you're right, I listened to the wrong tune (it's lush though)!
I listened to your WIP today. I really like the tightness of the entire production and it has good flow. You're right in saying I'm not usually a big fan of the aggressive midrange bass thing...I think that part in your WIP could do with a teeny bit less high frequencies.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, glad you like the tune. A few people have said the same thing about the intro being too long but I'm a stubborn bastard ;) I was going for a sorta minimalist classical (Glass/Reich) kinda thing and I like the way it builds tension/fucks with your head, even at the expense of accessibility.

You're right that my wobble comment was silly! I think I was just trying to find something I didn't like. I'm actually working on a track that has 4 synths simultaneously wobbling so I should shut my mouth!

Currently working on...

You're right, this is something i've noticed recently when making this kind of track and I'll try and tighten it up before the finished version.
toot wrote:I like the way it builds tension/fucks with your head, even at the expense of accessibility.
Yeah I did think this might have been what you were going for and that it was very deliberate. Nothing wrong with it really, infact it's good your not willing to conform and compromise your music for accessibility. Definitely love you tune, checked out some of the other stuff on your soundcloud and can see where those other influences I detected in it have come from! Good stuff.

@Geeza - Wah man, listened to craggles first and now soundcloud aint working :s i'll edit this post in a minute when it comes back online EDIT: Ok, had a listen. Like the intro, got some good sounds etc going on though the mix is a little muddy. Can't say I really appreciate it when the mid-range growl comes in though, feels like it looses a lot of momentum and it's quite forced if you get me, doesn't quite flow right. I would change the automation so it feels more complete. Otherwise not bad overall but needs quite some work to make it a proper banger I reckon.

@Craggle - Hah i'm glad I did give this a listen, nice tune man. Especially like the synth with the pitch automation, makes you feel like your falling XD and the chukachuka synth that comes right after it is sweet too. Maybe the swiping saw at the end of the chain as it were could be improved upon a little? It feels a little too ordinary and a bit of a let down next to the other 'midlines' you got going on. Overall good job though dude, like the intro cheesy synth and everything gels together nicely.

Hey guys,
I don't have great feedback skills at the mo unfortunately. kinda just enjoyed what i listened to, no great suggestions. Big fat monkeys track 'expression' was heavy, enjoyed it alot. Geeza, that tune is sounding cool man. Love the samples and that change up was nice. Kontrol's 'she's twisted' was really cool. I do agree with the others about smoothing that sample at the beginning, other than that sounds great. And toot, not the type of track i would usually seek out but i did think it was alright.

I got 3 tracks i've been messing with here and there for a while. Thought maybe some feedback might help me finish them. All appreciated, Cheers.

Hey guys. (After not fully reading the rules i've found the right place for this)

This is my 1st attempt at Dubstep Production.

Soundcloud

Its maxed out my CPU for the 1st time ever. (3GHZ Quad Core Mac)

Done on logic 9 ,

Its lacking in Background FX and Mastering & the Vocals. However you get the feel of it.

I think i need to add some white noise & more processing to snare & clap as i don't feel they punch through enough. Any suggestions ?

Some feedback would be great Cheers.

Also to the moderators as I am totally new to dubstep I think i would be waste of time me commenting some nonsense for the sake of it on 3 other peoples work just yet. however I fully intent to interact with community here. Also SoundCloud is currently down & so most of them can't be accessed. Thanks

@2nd world. Just listened to your tune. Nice feel to the track, the synth and wobble work well together i think. Some more layering on the wobble would sound good and a bit of mixing down to put some space betwen each instrument, if that makes any sense! :D

@Boring. Really like the Stuntman track. Listened to it a few times, good atmospheric feel to it. Found myself skipping through the intro a bit, it is good, perhaps break it up a little though. A bit more top end on the snare might sound good too.

@Olux. Glad you liked my track, am trying to rebuild it at the moment, Logic lost the plot and switched some of my synths and drum kits to presets that I've never even used so having to re-do them, nightmare!
Really liked your tracks. Like the main synth in Hole in My Shoe. I've only listened in my headphones but found the sub and kick a little weak.
Counting is a good solid track, some good bass and mid sounds in there and like the way the synths play around them.
The Amazing Fishing Bird is by far my favourite, love the samples. Nice solid kick and the mid range wobbles are well produced. All in all, good work man. :D

My feed back skills aren't the best,
@Carsonac, really digging the tune, solid effort, if you want to make the track more appealing I would play around with the lead synth from 0-53 try and make it little closer to your drop lead synth. Something about it that makes me cringe a bit. But the drop I really like, that is on par with the top. Digg the ambience!

Here is something I made in Reason, going for a kryptic minds feel.

@NICORISONE, like it a lot, the chords seem out of sync from 1:02-1:05 with the rest. Maybe speed up the chords a little bit, But I like how the drop catches you off guard and is very moody. Maybe add a female vocal to that, reckon it would work wonders. And maybe add something like a violin to help the melody at 00.21. All in all solid effort, look forward to hearing the finished product.
