Most of the house I buy is right around 120-124, so I wouldn't agree with house being mostly at 130. Maybe electro house or whatever, but the deep house I buy is at 120 and even some tunes I see at like 118.
Dubstep flavored tunes at 120 are wonderful. Like burial mix/ rhythm & sound stuff. It's all in the 120's and it's dope. Real dope. I'd like to see more stuff around that style.

YES! Punk music was my first love, Thats why I like the more agressive dirty dubstep & DnB. Sometimes most pits even break out at our outdoor parties when shit starts gettin dirty. I think harder dubstep works better at tempos faster than 140

I had this tune at like 138 and it was ok then I was like I'm gonna go well down tempo and put it at 134 and it was fuckin' jammin but then I was like fuck it, rave vip this shit and wacked it up to 142 and it fuckin tore it up (in my bedroom.) It's like people notice 2 or 3 bpm difference or some shit, when I'm mad on the crack I even hit 150.

tempo means shit to a good dj, all about feel of the tune. dubstep is kinda stuck on the 135-142 with uk shit it seems to be usa producers moving it closer to jungle or dnb and no surprise cause alot are from dnb or old acid house background or original jungle scene. but 150+ is pushing more towards j-tek than dubstep

sorry, i just wanted to say that i laughed out loud when i saw there's a guy on here named "therapist"
I was always against speeding dnb up and produced most of my tunes under 170, but with dubstep I think any tempo is fair game as long as it fits the tune. The genre sits in the middle of UK funky, dnb, j-tek, techno, etc. and I love the fact that all of this gets mixed together. Preconceived notions that something at 150bpm must be "aggro" is pretty ignorant. Genres need boundaries, but dubstep seems to thrive when those boundaries are loose. Is Burial dubstep? 2562? Boxcutter? Scuba's LP? Cooly G? King Cannibal? My point is that these artists all make really interesting music at the moment, and this music would be a lot less interesting if they felt the need to stay within these boundaries.

150bpm DOES NOT have to be tearout midrange stuff. It CAN be groovy, meditative etc.
I used to do alot of experiments around 150bpm while ago, here's an EP full of that stuff (though one 140 there called 'Scarce'): The Defender of Rhyhtm EP. Beats with tension and groove, Loefah and jungle vibes, Bury Da Bwoy style beats.
Also check out for forthcoming Fyutchaflex 12" track 'Silver' - 145.5bpm garage with serious swing - and another track called 'Nrg', 149bpm trance vibes on my Myspace.

I have a weird reggae-ish tune I made at 148, but am a little embarrassed about it since it was either the first or second dubstep tune I ever made. I'm trying to figure out the best way to post it since I don't want to upload the whole thing.

Probably the best 150bpm jam I've heard (that was born out of a psuedo-dubstep-ish mindset) is "Spheres of Fury" by Hecq vs. Exillon.
Sharmaji would probably argue that it is aggro... and I suppose he wouldn't be wrong (tho it's not a brostep-style aggro).
Plus, I am of the opinion that if one is gonna be aggro... be the aggro-est.
